Golgfag's perparations for BOYL 2023

I'm currently at home suffering with a heavy cold with the rest of my family at various stages of running noses, hacking coughs and changing temperatures, unable to focus on anything for longer than two minutes without reaching for a tissue to blow my nose or catch a cough, so I'm contemplating how to run this game over the course of BOYL 2023 weekend. I've got it down to the delivery, the long march and the call home, each to be played over the course of a day, with the results of the previous day affecting the start of the next.

The delivery will have be day one, with the Viking Slaves delivering their 'cargo' to a eager client, with a rescue party in pursuit, with one of the major armies casting an aloof eye over the proceedings from their advantage point on the edge of the table, whilst other major forces begin their entry on to the table to make a rendezvous and see what's going on respectively.

The viking force consist of A hero, his crew (20-30) made up of Huscals, Berserkers and warriors in their longship.

Their client - a force of Halforcs consisting of a Hero, a Shaman, his Henchmen, two to three units of warriors each with their champions, standards and musicians and a few bushwackers.

The rescue party - Nippon consisting of a Hero, a party of minor heroes, a selection of minor magicians, samurai, assassins and a whole gambit of Ashigari.

The observers - A force of Northern barbarians with their warbeasts, chariots, cavalry and warriors

Black orcs, a lot of black orcs enter from the far table edge.
Goblin wolf riders - generally making a neusance of themselves and getting in the way.
Chaos - The big man himself and his entourage enter from the far table edge.
Dark elves to the far side of the column of march enter from the far table edge, away from the black orcs.

There will be various other forces on table, waiting for orders or simply enjoying the spectacle! (I'm expecting well over a thousand figures on table for this first day, and would like a few volunteers for the main players or simple to move stuff on table would be much appreciated, which would be ideal for someone who can't bring a great pile of lead to the event, but want's to take part in a big game without tying themselves to it for the whole weekend).

More details to follow in due course.

In hope

If all goes to plan (as if!)on day one (The rescue) the slaves will be either rescued or awaiting their fate, the vikings might have left the table and there won't be quite as many half Half orcs and Nipponesse as there was on day one, especially if, the Northern barbarians join-in! The old man and his escorts might be in sight of the standing stone and the aftermath of what happened the previous day.
On day two more forces enter on to the table - more orcs and goblins, and the first lead elements of the empire, who are looking for the Blades of the Mountain (Black orcs) to find out what they're up to? With more empire troops following on behind. Now this is where the fun should start as individual general's begin to enact their objectives, suffer from anomosity, hate and fear etc. react to any revealed surprises or simply continue their journey to the stones and other interested, or uninterested parties are revealed as their journey progresses. Hopefully, the table becomes a hive of activity one way or another!

A selection of pictures showing some of the forces on table.

Thanks for looking

That feels very Pleistocene! (Or is it plastocene in this case?) Anyway, I love your horse-oceros. Looks positively bestial!

It's certainly a heavy piece of metal.

Never fail to impress me with the sheer diversity of your collection and usually leaves me thinking 'Oh I'd love some of them' ! Can't wait to see what next appears.

It certainly is, and if the game goes according to plan, whoever's playing with them will need everyone!

.... all them shields look hand painted.. yikes.. I have a paint getting small enough steady detail as it is but painting that many shields to have the same defined symbol... would have cheated (y'know you can somehow get inkjet transfer paper which works with the standard water method? would have thought it would wash of the ink but.. it's pretty nice stuff (got some myself and have used some).. also.. i mostly cheat with banners.. (print out lineart, and then paint ontop.. even then can't get all the detail right..
