The "How to do Oldhammer" Thread

Having just finished two Skull Chuckers, I immediately went about preparing the rest of the MD8 box set. They've been waiting for this moment for about 25 years. Let's bring the undead back to life!

Very nice! I never painted my chariot from that set, it's still sat in bits waiting for paint. To make it worse I've now got four of those chariots sat in the never ending paint queue so I'm looking forward to seeing yours painted up. :)

Some progress is made. Just finished all the bones. I'm particularly happy how Morbius and Reaper's cut-off head is turning out.

Finished Morbius. I like to think of him as the medieval version of Captain Spencer aka Pinhead during his decline into satanism and occultism.

Great topic!
Been looking for suchsource or inspirationand motivation: I am now trying to assemble oldschool Undead force as well :)

Bloomin' amazing, they look stunning.

And no, I don't count the shields - if I counted them too I'd never get anything finished... :(

But enough about the figures - tell us something about that table (or is it just a photography background?).

Those are very nice indeed. Hope mine turn out as well when I get around to them. Looking forward to seeing the finished unit.

I thought this excellent concept would be a great way for me to get my proper Oldhammer projects going. I am forever buying job lots and broken bits which I try to bring back to usable figures.

So I bought a huge - over 100 plastics - job lot because I was after a few of the 7 metal figures in the lot. As it cost me £10 in total I think it meets the criteria for dirt cheap on ebay. So that's where the gobbos and chaos warrrors mainly come from, the leader metal chaos warrior came from a 1 kg leadpile I bought on the bay.

This is they

the gobbos have a metal leader from a job lot

and the chaos warriors include a few Heroquest types and a Space Crusade Chaos Marine who will be guesting to give a bit of variety.

The Chaos Gobbos are now complete with a leader, musician and banner.

The musician has an outrageous horn and a slung bow. I felt it needed to show a poor overloaded guy who couldn't risk going into the fray without his weapon!

Chaos warriors up next with some variety built in including some ideas stolen from Asslessman.

All comments welcome

Chaos warriors or at least 9 of them. These are a mix of standard plastic mono pose figures plus some Heroquest types. They will have a banner carrier as well based on a Space Marine Chaos Marine but he's still only undercoated. They are my first attempt at using an ink over base coat approach and I feel I've been a bit heavy handed. All comments welcome especially advice on improving technique.
