The grand army of King Bruno the Questionable (Bretonnia)

Just noticed foundry do a Vlad the Impaler mini, that's my Blood Dragon vampire sorted for my Undead. Gonna order the Zombie dragon from ral Partha tomorrow, may get the Jabberwock as well.

Would the dragon be better off with a rider? Never used a monster solo before.

It’s a Foundry reissue of a mid-80s Citadel miniature. They did a series based on Angus McBride’s art for Blandford Publications’ “Medieval Warriors/Warlords” series. The Vlad mini was a dismounted version of this piece:

An ideal choice for a Vampire indeed. I believe that he never drinks…wine.

What has Vlad the Impaler got to do with... OH I get it.. the people that screw up and don't understand that Dracula was NOT based in any way on Vlad the Impaler.. cause of the name issue tons of people made that mistake.. like claiming the Monster's name 'Frankenstein' is 'Frankenstein' (I've even seen some idiot claim his name is Adam cause of the one line he says ¬_¬)..

still, the figure is fair enough design for a vampire.

Finally ordered the Zombie Dragon and Jabberwock before I changed my mind. Finally some mighty beasties for my brave, noble and dashingly handsome knights to slay.

Got the Bretonnian casualties from Foundry today, smaller than I expected but then I remembered when these were originally sculpted and it makes sense. Lovely sculpts, the guy being carried by his mate actually looks like he's in pain, don't get character like that with modern GW stuff.

Might actually paint something today, my flatmate (well my ex really, were better as friends than partners) is in Greece for the week and due to the heat I don't have to walk my mates mutt till later so I might paint the dead knight whilst I have the place to myself.

Oh, also got some trees on the way. Annoyingly they are coming from China so gonna take a while, but they were cheap so can't complain. Gotta make some bases for them though as they are the type that's just a point at the bottom to stick them into things, still a trees a tree, and you can never have too many trees.

I'm thinking they should scale well with other Foundry minis considering they are all GW sculpts, and I got the wounded guy to be the leader of the unreleased spearmen sold at BOYL so in theory they should be ok, just looks wrong in my head if the unit bossman is a short arse.
I'm headcannoning him as a lord who's just come of age and was adamant he gets to see battle, and got the poop kicked out of him, no doubt by a lowly empire cur as his back was turned.

Tbh I'm more excited to paint this one mini than I am when I get a nice box of plastics. Just primed him and the dead knight, gonna slap some paint about whilst watching Anunnaki videos on YouTube.

In other news, I got a Perry foot knight command sprue just for the crown head, now my commander has a hat suitable for his position. Also found two spare Perry knights, they will get great weapons bringing my Questing Knights to six strong. Stuffs slowly coming together, eventually.

Just need to highlight a few bits and actually paint the heraldry on the wounded chap and do the bases then these guys are done. Most fun I've had painting in ages.

Deffo ordering a pack of foot knights next month. Old minis just hit different when painting compared to new minis.
