power...armoured ...slann...

This is brilliant, just the sight of him makes me think of the adventures he must have faced to become part of a warband in some remote feral planet with weird people all around. Pure and undiluted awesomeness here.

Damn!!, you plan to have that slann cast before painting it. It's just too awesome

Re: Oldhammer Legacy Warband 2014 - sign up & progress threa

Thanks for the kind comments.

He will get the paint scheme for the warband and will be smooth and sleek as a Spaaace frog from the past should be. He seems to be morphing into a Buck Rogers style character at this stage! He is somewhat inspired by:

No casting on this one, he is just a one off for the Legacy Warband and will end up with the winner of the draw where he will hopefully go on to many exciting adventures. He is in some sense a prototype for some power suited Slann, so it is possible that I might make some more next year for actual casting.

Imagine, if you will, a vile sorceror of chaos, accompanied by his retinue of Dark Elves. The sorceror descended onto the humble village of Mittelwald, intent on summoning a foul daemonic monstrosity in the village square, where once a mighty champion of chaos was slain.

The terrified villagers barred their doors and shivered in their cellars. And then stern warriors of men, dwarves and elves closed in. A trap was sprung, and the sorceror surrounded.

But the fleeing sorceror could not escape his pursuers.

The warriors left as silently as they had arrived. Some peasant folk called out to them, asking their names. "We are the Dogs of Law" was the only reply. I know this to be true; for I am Gutsche, Mayor of Mittelwald, and I saw it with my own eyes

Absolutely lovely Jon ! this warband is not even finished it has already built a real identity !

Just a month now for the late participants. From what I've seen of the still WIP models, this will end a splendid way.

Shall we each send a quid to Jon who will have to pack and post all of this ? That'd be the least of things...

can't wait to base them and varnish them before building a huge display board !

Yep - they really are a mean looking grim bunch, ideal for fending off chaos incursions!

No - don't worry about that...after all everyone so far has posted their figure to me...I haven't posted anything anywhere ;)

Still 4 entries in the pipes

Skitti's cannon,
Crooksie's ********* ******* ** * ******
Seán's space Slann
John's gnome

I believe the others who have not had their name crossed out of the list yet are working in the shadows... they can't seriously consider NOT doing something

Seems I'm a bit late to the party, but let me add my heartfelt "Wow!" for the space slann.

I've been slacking :(
My human standard bearer wasn't up to scratch tbh, so I've started on a replacement
The standard bearer from the second Oreon's RoR bottom right here
I'm a sucker for Aly Morrison faces I have to admit

Now you just need to whip captain crooks to finish both your entries at once so you can ship them in one package ;)

Mine will be getting primed this week for the final push...just a heads up though I have decided to paint a human archer instead of a dwarf as promised.

Cheers,

I don't think there will be any duplication issue, but I thought I'd make a note that I'm basing my entry on the original Morgana le Fay miniature. With a few tweaks here and there. Smallish ones.

Note the stress on the reduced extent of modifications...

He looks sensas James but you knew that already, what an entry ! Seeing the last people coming up with giants and cannons I feel almost ashamed for not even converting my entry (although the gender change has to count)

All i did was change her hands and her mount. No biggie.

Now that's just FREAKING AWESOMOAR than I had figured possible in a challenge of this magnitude!

A slight practical consideration...how tall is this giant? He might not fit in my lightbox ;)

Absolutely amazing...I can't wait to see him in the flesh :)

Late to the party but hopefully still in time? I realised today that I had to contribute to this fantastic project. The theme reminded me of the classic Heroic Fighters of the Old World so I have tried to make a conversion that emulates the feel of these miniatures. A pretty easy solution, but I think it has that Oldhammer vibe to it so hopefully it will fit in. Paint and post is next on the agenda!
