Michaels 25mm WFB Stuff...

Finally got around to making a base for my trees. It is/was tricky trying to get a balance between pretty and playable.
I also finished the fences and made a crop field too.

Anyway, it is quite noticeable the lack of terrain I have at the moment.

4 years of 10mm meant I had pretty much everything I could need for most games.
But only 9 weeks into 25mm starting from scratch and it is quite daunting to see how far there is to go to even come close to a fraction of my 10mm in 25mm.

Everything takes so much longer, costs more, takes up more space.
BUT, all that aside, no regrets.

good stuff. how did you 'shave' the field(s?)?

Thanks, I got a mat and just cut it into 3 shapes, the main clumps.
The trodden down/flat stuff is done by cutting away the hairs/fibres from another piece of mat and placing them.
Not quick but easy enough, just a bit tedious.

Below is a WIP that shows that (ish)

Agreed. The irregular forms give it a certain more naturalistic appeal. Not that farm fields are ever truly natural. And in the US they can be alarmingly close to square, but even here they aren't universally. Or even usually if you get picky about it. (There's always some feature to break up the monotony.) Anyway, yeah, I like the irregularly shaped fields better.

I thought in the US they liked to do that trick where they flatten crops into shapes and claim Aliens did it? ^_^

Now I'm trying to decide if I want to dress up as a Slann and figure out how to stomp on cornstalks without getting sued, or if I want to stomp cornstalks into the shape of a Slann without getting sued.

I don't much like painting 25mm as it takes an age, but I figured if I aim for about 50 figures total for the force, then I should be able to get it all done in about a year at 1 model per week.
Also I have been putting off BOYL as I feel like a bit of a fraud for doing 3rd edition in 10/12mm, and I do want to go to BOYL at some point, but just not with unofficial models in a teeny scale. etc.

Progress
So 9 weeks in, have I painted 9 models?
Nope.
I have painted 2 and almost finished 2 more, just doing the basing.

Why?
Well project BOYL 2025 has mutated.
Instead of being 50 models for BOYL in 2025 it has become that, plus, 50 models for Samantha too.
(Of which I have painted 5, so that almost makes the 9?)
Plus it has become terrain.

Results
But in 9 weeks in I have:

Painted almost 9 models.
Painted 4 lengths of fence.
Made 6 lengths of hedge.
Made a field.
Made a tree terrain base.
Re-flocked 6 trees.
Painted 1 barricade.
Scratchbuilt and painted a cottage.
Primed 100 models.

So all in all quite good, but not what I had planned...

3 of my 5 Holzfaller finally done for my Warm Ale and Mud WFB 3rd edition game.

I don't normally name the 'rank and file', so Martyn the main man has a name and a little bit of background, but something tells me I should call the guy on the right, 'Fimm'
