Behold she is in the resting place of Ursus Teddius Diversus Minor! Egad vaults up and defenestrates!

They are a bit teddy bear like I have another with a big pointy spear who i think should be grey like my wolf riders mounts.

I'm hoping for some guidance on a recent bunch of minis. I picked up these Reaper orcs in a trade together with my main interest in it C series orcs - don't get much further apart in style and age! Having painted them as orcs I'm thinking they would have been better as Hobgoblins because of their oriental look and heavy armour. Does the hive mind have an opinion? And if hobs anyone got a good recipe for skintone?

This one's a bit more orcy but way out in scale.

Black orcs maybe? They are general bigger and nastier than normal orcs. I don't know why but in my head Hobgoblins have hair and orcs don't ( though it really depends on what fantasy setting your looking at I guess). I mean they look like Orcs to me and big orcs are always black orcs.

it's your make believe world, so you should do whatever feels right, but since you've asked for advice my take on hobgoblins is that they're sinewy and wiry rather than big. so i'd probably go with losteriksson's advice and use them as black orcs.

New recruits.

First off one of Diego Serrates Pantheon of Chaos minis Thrakon or Tharn the Almighty or something very similar. He seems to have had several possible names and wasn't around for long only appearing in the 2nd wave kickstarter. He'd lost a horn so met the criteria for painting on two grounds being new and broken. I'm trying out a new skin tone so comments would be helpful.

Next up another OFF the Wall Armies " Frateri Diversi Romuli Remique" wolf beastman this time with spear and to avoid confusion with teddy bears in grey.

and some other woodland types a wolverine and sparrowhawk. the bird is in honour of the one that just caught a flying rat - pigeon- in my back garden and devoured it, very impressive bird.

it seems to have a slightly green tinge; is that real or a photographic chimera?
either way, the skin looks good.
i your subsequent post, i like the wolverine especially.

The greeny brown tone is deliberate perhaps a bit enhanced by the photography, I think I should use my phone or a new camera.

Glad to say the painting mojo has returned thanks to the challenge of rebuilding some broken orcs I picked up in a trade. I really enjoy the orcs of this period very characterful.

First up a C16 Orc with Spiked club and shield or at least that's how he started out in the 80's. He'd lost his hand and weapon so he now has a replacement plastic axe.

Now a C!5 Nishrok phalngite who has been promoted to holding the flag, which came from an undead command set I think.

Last orc C15 orc charging seems a bit out of place .

1112664925_o.jpg

One of Bryan Ansells Chaos Marauders Num Tin Giant Hobgoblin Champion. His face lacks definition but I think that's as much the sculpt as my painting. I'll be showing more of these as I get round to them.

And last but not least from the greatest game ever and the greatest character in it the Heroquest Barbarian. I found him in the depths of the pile and decided he deserved a fresh start and a new weapon given he'd lost his sword.

As always comments and criticism encouraged.

That Marauders of Num Tin hobgoblin looks lovely and you've done a great job fixing the poor beleaguered barbarian. He never could hold onto his sword. Maybe an axe suits him better anyway! :)

After a bit of a gap I've managed to get around to posting, not lack of painting just lack of finishing!!!. So on with the finished stuff.

My entry for Phil "Oldmanpaints" Octogre competion on Instagram. A Nick Lund C14 Ogre "Man Sticker". He recently took up employment with Golgfags Mercenary Ogres as no self respecting traditionalist ogre would consider working for that other crowd of crooks Ogreber.

And my Orctober offering a Citadel Big Un with his mace replaced by a plastic one as the original had disappeared when he came to me.

Another green skin this time a Ral Partha Tom Meier Lesser orc archer. I found him while searching for a suitable Orctober mini and despite him not being broken I decided he needed to brought in to use.

1117575161_o.jpg

And finally here a Gothic Horror Peasant whose face had almost been flattened so had a head swap.

Despite aiming to establish a theme I'm all over the place again, gnomes for Gnomevember abd a Heroquest Dwarf while I was painting. So here's the Dwarf.
