CVB's Heroquest/Dungeon Crawl

Glad I could be of service! As has been said before she no longer looks like an elf. Quite a clever choice of mini! And better someone enjoy her rather than hidden at the back of a garage! I think very respectable paint jobs and such a quick turnaround too! Congrats!

Thanks to you both.

Phreedh, I used your ghoul/zombie painting guide to produce these two (though I didn't do the white highlighting at the end)-I'm say 70% done with the gargoyle and then I will have finished the contents of the main game.

Sadly my Gargoyle is missing it's whip (had an RT Ork chainsword in it's place) but I plan to bodgey one up (lego whip sharpened at one end would work, or more likely a papier mache version)

Who would of thought smoking was useful? :? (cough cough)

So one of the early quests calls for the rescue of Sir Ragnar, one of the Emperors bravest knights etc etc.

Being all that, he is absolutely hopeless in game as you are leading him out of the dungeon.
The book tells you to use the chaos mage as Ragnar, but since I'm not 10 anymore only a dedicated mini will suffice

Having placed an order with Foundry a while ago, I received a couple of bonus minis-and I think this fellow has Sir Ragnar written all over him

Heroic yet useless looking, I can imagine him striking this pose as our heroes desperately fight for their lives, sort of like John Cleese's Officer in the African bit of The Meaning Of Life oblivious to the carnage around him.

I've been searching for a Sir Ragnar for ages, and this is a darn good idea. I even have this figure, he was delivered last week with a pile of naked Picts I'm using for an... erm... project.

Hehe, my order consisted of semi clad barbarian and Valkyrie ladies (plus Dredd, Anderson and Death) so I am not going to judge you ;)

Just to prove I have some fully clothed female minis, here is a rather mannish plastic Elf.
Not happy with the flights on the arrows, but hey

S'funny, I always thought that was an effeminate man-elf. But then, aren't they all? :)

Just the one, but I do have a draw full of lacy undies :|

Errr...anyways here is another 3rd ed Talisman plastic jobby, this time the Astronomer.
Once again I lacked the "testicular fortitude" to freehand all the astrological symbols he is no doubt supposed to be covered in!
I left his eyes white as if he is scrying into the crystal ball, or something

I really like the dramatic pose, kind of a mix between Prince Hamlet and Lord of the Dance...

Don't worry about the freehands on the outter part of of the clothes you did well to preserve them, I'm sure the ones you painted in the inner parts are mind blowing with stars and moons and comets...
On a technical note, I really like the colour you use to highlight your leather, I've only recently discoverd a sort of yellowish light brown to do the same and find it makes the leather look more refined.

Hehe, my brother (Capn Happychap, the one post wonder) painted my classic Leman Russ Primarch mini beautifully a few years back, and put all these lightning bolts arcing on the inside of the cape...when he attached it they were completely obscured by his legs

Cheers, that light brown is citadel Balor Brown (formerly Tausept Ochre) over Skraag/Vermin Brown if you were wondering.

Now may I present my Snakeman

Huuum, looks like someone warped a Taipan in the WH 3rd ed world ! Good colour choice ! I would like to see the back of him to see how you painted those little bottles and details...
I really like it, he looks like he just got out of one of the "sorcery" adventure books.
One small detail though : I think he could benefit from a dark wash on the sword blade at least, it looks a bit too bright or too much "blotgun metal straight from the pot" for me . On another hand it contrasts well with the rest of the model and the saturated colours you use so maybe it's not worth the effort and just me being silly  .

Seeing him up close there are a couple of tings I need to patch up on him, I'll post another tomorrow...and I forgot to give his blade a black wash somehow :? (like forgetting to put socks on)

I'm pretty sure your (Assman's) Snakemen are the only painted examples I've seen, and I didn't want to just ape your colour scheme- I knew I was going to paint him like a Taipan or King Brown but everything else was stumbling in the dark.

I had to check the pics of yours earlier tonight to see what the hell was going on with the skull on the end of the tail!
I also had no idea they were bottles in that satchel

Oh regarding the skull at the end of th etail, I just painted it like rusty metal without taking any extra care unlike you :?

I'm pretty sure there is one other set of painted snakemen on this very forum (if not 2) and there'sgoblin Lee's too.

EDIT : found them ! it's leadabesto's
