a big fantasy game like this is the time to get the big guys out.

To be honest I'm not that bothered, I just want to chuck loads of cool toys on the table.

i wouldn`t worry too much as wood spirits they will have to be summoned onto the field like Daemons. 8-)

No need mate i remember. To my mind Zoats and Treemen are the Goodies "Daemons", Dragons and Daemons are considered game breakers by many but Treemen are definitely in third place and in number are ridiculous at holding up the bulk of an army.
As you know they are on the menu i can only suggest 2 things for a Skaven force-bring warp lightning cannons and use standard cannon rules and allied Giants perhaps converted to be ratlike or if you own Hellpit Abominations stat them as Giants.

Hellpit Abominations and Warp Lightning Cannns????????? I own not these items, nor shall I ever!!!!!!!!

Don't like 'em, seem like they were brought in as an easy answer to problems that shouldn't exist. In a reasonable army one should not ever face more than one or two treemen, a whole smeggin' Forrest was/is too beardy and not what should be happening if we have to summon our deamons!!!! I'm bringing Greenskins to help my Rats packing as many stone throwers as I can lay my hands on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and I also need to find as many Warpfire Throwers as I can and play the law of averages, fire ten and some should burn an ent to the ground surely.............................

Nice sentiment, and one would hope that everyone would hold with such, but unfortunately there are those that don't, hence we end up having dialogues like this to hopefully get people to 'play nicely', we live in hope that folks take the hint so we can avoid situations where all the giants on the table were declared to be level sixes, but hey-ho, who's throwing stones now! ;)

We're all planning to bring our big toys out to play for this one, because we don't get the opportunity that often; all we can hope for - is that the other guy accepts this fact and plays the game and brings his own and plays fair 8-) 8-) 8-) . Now where did I put all those Grenadier Dragons I use to pick up for a fiver a time, back in the eighties.

Oh don't worry, I plan to fight fire with fire, or rather big gribblie with big gribblie!

Let us please remember that while wood elves can have treemen and zoats they don't generally field ogres, minotaurs, chaos warriors (units of level 10 heros no less), chaotic hosts of hydra, chimera, cockatrice, trolls or giants. Then the large number of daemons that can be summoned on top the chaotic side isn't short of it's own problem causing units. Now sure the skaven army is low on big hitters preferring to overwhelm, which can be difficult, that's why you need to work in concert with our allies, provide the multitudes where the ogre hoed provides the muscle or the summoned daemons, or the giants.

Think about your objective in the game, stop the lawful side from capturing the magical stones and or stopping the summoning. It strikes men that sacrificing large units to keep your lines in tact would be a perfectly valid and game winning strategy one that the skaven are very capable at. You don't have to wipe the table clear of any treemen that appear, just tie them up.

I'm sorry but being slaughtered wholesale by the staggeringly huge number of Treemen arrayed against me wasn't fun, all it did was give me very a slow weekend of removing models with nothing I could do about it.

I don't intend on repeating the experience, I will, somehow, have something that can hurt them.

I was facing at least 10 in my corner of the board (there were more not fighting me), and some of those were twigs stuck onto a base that none of us realised were Treemen, we all thought they were representing trees until whoever's they were decided they were Treemen (coincidence the Treemen were doing well and all of a sudden the all of the trees of that wood were Treemen?)

No Skaven Army would normally have to deal with that many Treemen in one go, the fear and/or terror factor (do Treemen cause terror I can't remember???) would be hard enough for 3rd edition Skaven to deal with let alone the toughness and sheer difficulty of killing the b#star#ds.

Lets also be clear, the people that brought treemen are not playing. I have a few but not that many. I also remember how the bloodthirster smashed through the elemental and continued on to the wall. Only the luck of having a dispel spell for my wizard and then a lucky roll stopped him. Or the combined efforts of all cannon eventually knocking out the last giant of which there were about ten also. How many treemen were standing at the end?

I assume at least one of your wizards will be raising a GDHR? Come up with a plan to reduce them to match wood and relish the revenge.

The owner concerned proudly showed off his cheap treemen before the battle. Were there to many? Probably, were there too many level 6 Giants or bolt throwers on anti-aircraft mounts, almost certainly.

I think i will think properly about the actual regiments and bring a shit-ton of monsters and let everyone else tell me when to stop putting them on the table.

There where still a large number of treemen still standing at the end of the battle. The Bloodthirster didn't smash through the elemental, he ended up down to one wound, it was only as he started to slowly take the wounds off of the elemental that he got the upper hand, Prior to that he was losing.

Giants wise I don't think one of them came into contact with the walls. Did the Treemen do their job? Yes. Far too easily. Was that me not having a plan to stop them, yes, more than likely but that's likely because I didn't realise I would be fighting an Ent Moot!

All I'm saying is this year I want to have something CAN fight a Treeman and give any controlling player a pause for thought rather than joyously ripping my army to shreds.

To you maybe.

Not saying it didn't emulate what would of happened in real life with "people" confusing trees for treemen but when you're already up against it it was a nasty trick.

WYSIWYG it was not.

There were cheers when the last treeman fell!

Anyway lets not get antagonistic towards each other before the game, I've arranged things this time so the forces of order are on the attack, hopefully this time you can be laying the surprises.

I believe that was the first battle. Anyhow, all I 'm saying is this time I'm bringing something to hopefully smash a treeman or two.
