Thanks very much.

God, a far cry from my painting at 9. Enamels with no shading or highlights. My Dad would only buy me the primary colours because he said I could mix anything from them. I did manage to persuade him to get me a black and a white. Would take another two years before I got a silver or gold. Hard times.....
Hard times indeed.
I started the same way. My fist Citadel minis were painted in the few colours I had for painting WWII stuff. Olive drab all around. I did have a gun metal metalic however ... so that let me do chainmail and armour ... a bit.

Now I have all sorts of colours.

B is for Beholder. (Another Bones mini).
Couldn't resist going bright and cartoony.

Here's another bit of fun ....

B is for Bee.

Remember this guy? Giant plastic bee from children's 'bag of bugs':

Here he is with his new paint job:

Next up a couple of Treemen:
I have reposed the one planning to do a conversion I saw once when this model was first released where the tree is an apple tree and is handing someone an apple.

I painted up this little fella. (A taste of things to come). This one is tiny .... baby bear.

Sooo .... with the new Mad Max movie just around the corner I thought it was about time I did "Dark Future".

For those who don't know Dark future was Games Workshop Big Box Game from 1988.
You got cars, bikes, roads, rules, rulers, dice everything you needed for a bit of vehicle based mayhem.

So you get two different cars in the set that fit the same chassis:

The cars came in four different colours (Although you only got two colours in any one box).

Whilst the cars that came with the box were great .... the real fun was that you could convert all your matchbox cars ......

So here is the start I have made:

A couple of these became the last of the V8 interceptors.

Hot Wheels do make a great starting point:

These become variations of the Interceptor in the box (Middle).

Then started adding weapons.

Probably leave the V8's fairly gun free:

As you can see I have been having a whole lot of fun:

Need to paint them back up again and I am good to go.

So just to make things even more random ....
Here at G.R. O. G. (Gloucestershire Retro and Oldhammer Gamers) our last couple of BIG games have been Rouge Trader games.
However, given that a couple of us are into our fantasy and good ol' fashioned dungeon bashing these games had a twist ... although given that Rouge Trader has one foot firmly in the Role playing games of old ... maybe not so much.

Our first game had a split table with some above ground action with an 'assault' on an Imperial base ... with which they had lost communication. Unfortunately their had been a Tyranid attack ... and as a result poured out of every hole in the planet upon our arrival. Each of the five players had different objectives .... which resulted in a surprising amount of mistrust and suspense and no small amount of back stabbing! The result of some great GM'ing and a bonus of narrative driven, GM'ed gaming. Anyways some of us cracked on and got inside the complex and into the below ground action to complete our objectives ....

I am not so good at the whole battle report thing ... so lets just say "Complications arose, ensued, were overcome." .... although not by me .... My squad of Marines died to the last man.

Anyway here are some pretty pictures:

The second game was played on two tables ... It was a follow up to the first game, more back story, more suspense, more intrigue and more back stabbing. Once again there was both over ground and under ground action ... This time there was an assault on some ancient Pyramid, some locals were trying to perform some ceremony to stop some demon or other re entering the world and causing ultimate evil and the destruction of the universe and we were essentially getting in the way .... anyway I am not much good at this whole battle report thing ... so lets just say "Complications arose, ensued, were overcome." .... although not by me ... my team of archaeologists died to the last man.

Anyway, here are some pretty pictures:

Hope you like the pretty pictures

You may remember these fellas:

I painted up the missing five:

So here are all 18 of the Marauder snotlings:

So I made a start on my pirate crews.
I have painted up these great Chinese Pirates from the Wargames Foundry
They will obviously be the Nippon crew.
The colour scheme shamelessly stolen from the Witchhunter.

(This guy has been huge inspiration for me for years!

I have been collecting Kev's Snorclings for a while .... and have a small selection.
At the recent Oldhammer Day the Good folks at the Wargames Foundry were kind enough to lets those of us who bought some of there huge selection of minis have a few Snorklings (and other ramage) with each purchase ... so I was able to pick up a few more.

Here are some of the ones I have got painted so far:
Great little characters of Warhammer Quest and general dungeon bashing:

Now I thought this guy would make a great musician for the unit:

and this old Citadel Snotling a nice Magic user:

So slightly bigger units are possible including a couple of Kevs Snorclings:

Next up I painted a unit of these:

and a small unit of these:

If anyone has a the OTHER Snorkling on a hopper and would like to trade that would be great.

Including my Lesser Night Goblins as skirmishers and my Squigs gives me an 'Army shot' that looks like this:

More Snorklings, more snotlings, more Lesser Night Goblins and other lil' fellas to follow.

So where to start.

In preparation for the next Oldhammer game with GROG (Gloucestershire Retro and Oldhammer Gamers) .... "The night of the living lead" ... did you see what I did there .... I painted up a whole bunch of skeletons. Vintage citadel and Marauder skeletons.

I painted some of these:

Grim Reapers:

Painted up some of these great old Citadel guys:
One of the few minis they did with multiple head varients back then most of the skellies were individual sculpts.
I thought these might make a nice unit:
Note also the Necromancer type in the front row:

BiW8am.jpg

...and a bit more old school nonsence:

This guy is a Fighting Fantasy miniature.
Sometime in the 80's Citadel made a bunch of BIG plastic miniatures for Fighting Fantasy ...the Game books.
They were not great sculpts and made in soft plastic but ... well see what you think of him as a Bone Giant ...

He didn't come with a staff .... he had a sythe but I have lost it .... and whatever was attached to his belt ...so I have improvised.

Here they are together .... I think it works:
