Sewers.of.estark’s Dungeon Adventurers

As an attempt to provide some scenic photos I dug out a fantasy specials fountain and some of the games workshop walls from around 6th edition that all seemed suitable enough for some photos on my 2’x 2’ skirmish board.
Unfortunately I didn’t take the time to paint a backdrop and edited one in..

Some single shots

And an action shot of the knights defending their holy fountain from a swarm of diseased ratmen and their foul master.

So tell me your opinion, should I paint more scenics and a backdrop to keep up with photos like this? Or stick with the white backdrop? Or both?

Wow, seeing that Talisman Necromancer brings back memories. Very well done. Symphonic poet was right about the badger / were badger - that's genius.

Glad you enjoy the Necromancer :) and thanks regarding the badger, your kind words are much appreciated.
looks good. that's a lovely backdrop.
Thank you - I’ll probably keep up with photos like these as well and continue painting scenics when I can :)
Fine shield but the cloak is really selling it.
Thanks :) I appreciate it!

Another finished adventurer., this time something a bit different and the start of a smaller subproject - some possible anti-hero characters.
To start us off I’ve just finished this chaos beastman, who we will call a beastman shaman for the sake of rpg. I had planned to include him in a beastman warband, but thought that having a range of anti-heroes would help provide more options.

Inspired by Xavier Renegade Angel, as the two seem to have some similar traits. Along with that I enjoy that he isn’t necessarily an evil character, merely a shamanic wanderer followed by a cloud of destruction.

that's a great figure. i use mine as the general of my undead army.
Thanks twisted moon, it’s a pretty great figure, I’m actually quite fond of lots of the marauder figures though I don’t have many in my collection!

I’d love to see your work sometime as eventually I’ll have to start painting my three undead armies.. couldn’t find room for this chap though, I’m sure he will get lots of game time though as the wife seems to quite enjoy his “flipping the bird” pose

As always progress continues.. up next will be a chaotic dragon paladin and a lizardman barbarian.

Up next is the lizardman barbarian, an old Grenadier figure that fit my vision of a chaotic evil lizardman. While painting the lad up I couldn’t help but think of some lyrics from Pink Floyd.

Overhead the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine

So he gets a coral cudgel! More scenic photos soon, been working on putting together some woods over the last few weeks, hopefully they will be ready soon :)

Can’t go wrong with Pink Floyd. 8-) It’s neat when sudden inspiration hits through music (or any other form of art, really).
Cudgel certainly pops from the rest of the mini’s more grounded and realistic feel (well, as realistic as a lizardman can ever be).

Cool minis all but minstrel and vampire caught my eye the most. Quite unsual colour scheme on vampire's greyish-white robes instead of black, crimson or purple ones, works really nicely.

I just wouldn’t say I have much of any skill related to the pinstriping,, just patient and masochistic xD

This is very relatable to me. The results on finished minis however make it worth going that extra mile.

Thank you for the kind words Geroak, I appreciate it very much :)

I couldn’t agree more with you about the artistic spark, I must have spent two weeks dreading to start this figure, and then 3 or 4 attempts before anything really clicked. Not as happy with the skin tone as I am his equipment but it will definitely suffice as there is much more to be done and much more music yet to inspire.

Still finding it difficult to get started on the next lot of skeletons.. managed to paint up this next evil adventurer, a Grenadier Pinnacle Products Dragon Paladin. Even made a start on the next..!
