Very nice, I do like the cohesive palette you've chosen. I've always liked that minotaur, it is a grand model. Looks good in deep red/orange.

I started this year off by painting a small warband of bandits and ruffians, I’ve decided after painting my “town guard” to keep adding to my band of cutthroats and use them as a militia unit along with the guards. Eventually that means I’ll need to pick up more empire sprues to build up some bigger units.

For the time being I’ve got a decent stash of c46 militia and other thug-like characters. Starting off is my first attempt at the color scheme in almost a year, and also my entry for the golden gobbo.

I’ve also gone back and photographed each of the individual bandits from my first attempt.

ruthless looking bunch!

unless you're determined to go all citadel / games workshop, there are lots of other in production figures that would slot in nicely. midlam miniatures springs to mind for example.

Lovely sculpts well painted :)
Thanks KingOfTheLeadPile, I appreciate it :)

Thanks Twisted Moon, I appreciate you letting me know about Midlam! They have some villagers I’ll definitely have to pick up for this project :)
I’m by no means set to only GW, though I must admit I’ll probably end up picking up a box of state troops to match the other kitbashes I’ve already painted.

Two more bandits..

And I’ll end my post today hoping for opinions, I’m debating using “Freddy” as an assassin in the ranks of bandits, otherwise he may join my group of evil player characters… what are your thoughts?

So much cool stuff on this thread! Your collection of trolls and giants is quite something.
Variation on the uniforms of guardsmen on page 4 is a nice touch, makes them look both individual yet a coherent group. Same goes for the bandits with their unifying colour scheme. Stripes are looking good as ever. Is one of the new recruits, Wilkin, sporting a corpse paint?
Though you already made up your mind, I’d have also said Freddy would work nicely as an assassin.

Thanks Geroak :) glad you’re enjoying the lot! I appreciate your praise!

And aye, I went a bit heavy with wilkin’s eye makeup and decided to go with corpse paint! Something I’ll likely be keeping up as I quite enjoyed the process & final product.

Freddy coming soon!

A few weeks ago I prepped a handful of scenic/terrain pieces for paint. Finally got along to one tonight, came out pretty quick!

Starting off with a small field of corn and a shot of it in use with the current bandit gang!
