sewers.of.estark’s armies & warbands

Greetings from the sewers! Hopefully you haven’t grown tired of me yet, there is much more to photo and post :)

I think that the general terms of armies & warbands should cover the rest of my collection that won’t be pictured in my “dungeon adventurers” thread.

To start off here, I went back and retook photos of my first OWAC army made up of Tom Meier’s Lizardmen & Troglodytes as well as a Tom Meier dragon and a few early citadel figures.

A unit of troglodytes with double handed weapons from the early days of citadel, I believe the archer is a modern variant by Tom from their somewhat recent reappearance at Ral Partha Legacy.
Anyways, the archer will serve as a low level troglodyte hero equipped with a bow (that I must assume counts as a double handed weapon in close combat)

From another early citadel box set, Tom Meier Lizardmen with spears. I think I’ve got both a Ral Partha and Citadel cast for most of these figures and it’s interesting to see the slight change of details from one to another. The most significant here would be the spearheads on the 3rd group down.

Both units of lizardmen include a low level hero equipped with a double handed weapon, a banner bearer & a musician.
This unit is equipped with hand weapons & shields.

The lizard king! A conversion of another of the Meier lizards to be riding a bigger Tom Meier lizard!
As for points he would be a higher level lizardman mounted on a cold one, likely a magic item or two as well ;)

Another Tom Meier figure, this time a dragon. This massive swamp inhabitant is worshipped like a god by the voracious lizardmen.

A unit of fiend factory cavemen led by a fantasy adventurers amazon priestess and her pet, a fiend factory bonesnapper. This unit is the only bit not sculpted by Tom Meier, but I feel they are a worthy addition as human slaves. Or soon to be meals for the great dragon…

That’s all for now,., I’ve got more of these lurking around unpainted and eventually plan to add a wizard and a unit of lizardmen with arquebuses.

Now, with some real free time on my hands I went back and reshot pictures of my army of savages. Starting with the biggest and working our way to the smallest, I’ll start off with the citadel imperial dragon-

I wouldn’t say this is necessarily the next largest giant, but it is the last non-citadel giant in this horde. A Heritage Dungeon Dwellers Hill Giant.

I suppose you could say these next two giants are also non-citadel, but they were released as C28 giants as well as Ral Partha trolls.

Up next is Fergus the Psychotic Troll, but really I’d argue he is a giant, albeit smaller than some.

Moving onto the C20 trolls..
In retrospect I would probably have painted all of my c20 trolls with this orange skin tone, but with a pile of trolls still waiting for a base coat, I think I’ll leave these be.

Last bit of the army is made up of savage orcs, first up is a plain unit of em with hand weapons and shields, though the majority of these still need shields. A loss of enthusiasm for the project I suppose. Perhaps I’ll finish them in the near future.

Last bit of the army, our army leader and his retinue of boar boyz. Equipped with double handed weapons and bows these are a mashup of the fiend factory / fantasy tribes boars and the one of the citadel collectors edition savage orc variants. The figure used for the leader is an ORC4 Eddrig Dwarf Cutter.

That wraps this project up for now, though as I mentioned I’ve still got quite the pile of trolls to paint and shields to add.

Coming soon will be my most recent project I’ve only just finished, chaos dwarfs! With a slaaneshi twist!

Where to begin??? Some really lovely painted models you have there. Love the giant with the eyeball and as a lover of all things green just love the savage orcs especially the boar riders. I feel your pain with shields I currently have a backlog of orcs waiting on their shields to be painted.

Thanks dazza, I’m glad you like them :)
Yes they are quite daunting for some reason, probably just boredom at least for me. Why paint shields when I can work on a new warband or dungeon adventurer? Especially as that unit came 6 months into painting nothing but these greenskins!

While I wait to tidy up my work on the OWAC before posting pics of the chaos dwarfs, I had forgotten to include any of my warbands.
To rectify this I went into my annals of photos and found that I’d gotten some decent photos of this next bunch.

The chaos goblins and ogre were sculpted by Aaron Howdle, and they really are lovely. After painting this lot of them I ended up chatting with Aaron and getting another pile of these to paint.

I recall the pinstripes being tedious so I’m putting it off for a while.

-thanks for visiting the sewers.
