OGRE

I should do shouldn't I? I have to admit to being a bit pragmatic about that kind of thing. If the part glues together then cool, if it's being a pig and doesn't want to stay or if it's flimsy then I'll pin it. :)
I think that you are right - parts that may get knocked need the the bolt and braces approach so arms, weapons etc may need pinning but I wouldn't expect a humanoid mini to be picked up by the head so it should be ok with just glue.

managed to spend about 2 hours on my elf this evening and he's about 90% done. Just his hair and base to do.

Less than 2 weeks until we play! I'm looking forward to it rather a lot.

Sir Tedwin has a companion to stop him from getting scared in the dark, he may even know a little bit of magic!

Get me to paint it for you?

Badum tish, I'm here all week folks.

Retainers and henchmen already is it?

OK I'll come up with something special just for you guys so your characters can start with retainers and something else to balance things for those who don't bring their own army. Not sure I can stretch to the want list of a spell casting, armour wearing retainer Colin, I think the other players may call foul. He dose look jolly nice though.

Once upon a time perhaps, but now, instead he'll just have my usual "turn the lights down, stand 50 paces away and squint" paint job

To be honest, I'm happy for the game to have unbalanced heroes. Consider the competition in LotR between Legolas and Gimli. Legolas is clearly superior in his accomplishments, so Gimli balances it in his mind; "that only counts as one!" as the mûmak tumbles.

As long as the group are pitted against a challenging but realistically surmountable foe as a whole, individual strength is not too important. (Yes I am aware that I'm taking an Elf, but the theory is still valid!)

I have christened him 'Gadscon le grump' and his catch phrase will be ' suppose you'll be wanting a cup of tea now?' And 'of course I know where we are, can you read? Thought not '
