My Random stuff

I ought to find a copy of that fellow and send him off into space with the Duchess of Pain Court. She's actually nice too, but she looks pretty scary, so they'd make a good team.

I like that diorama of dead-dead; flowers on green field and one dead/dying skaven. Nothing fancy, not a great big spectacle, no mourners, no one to care. Footpads dying is something we rarely put any thought at all when thinking of wargames or lore for our miniatures.
I've had this idea of making a diorama based on the poem/song 'The Twa Corbies' for a bit now, just need to find suitable mini of dead knight.
This diorama of yours works as great inspiration towards that.

A quick shot of a quick build, using a new (well, one I just got) Prince August mould, this is a treasure chest (a bit basic but not bad) and a bag of loot for a Loot Objective Token. I gotta cast up a few more to do some mode tokens and I might see about sculpting on some extra detail to the chest but not sure. had a bit of a problem doing the raised edges anyway.. looks okay on table top, not as much when you are looking close up in a photo. 25mm base.

Good stuff, one day I shall have a play with casting! I think it actually appeals more to me a lot more than the 3D printing, more visceral.

It's fun. takes a little bit for the metal to cool down enough and I'm having problem finding other companies that sell drop forge home cast moulds, but I can also make my own, just don't last as long. scenery-forge.com do some okay moulds for resin so that wouldn't last as long for metal and not as good for such

Photos haven't come out great but.. this is a painted metal cast of a sculpt I did. while I can see some bits that need work (like the hair is a little.. string-like.. I need to cut the edges of it to make it a bit better.. but it's meant to be very matty stuff anyway) I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Not quite as much on the paint job but not bad.

This is a Burrick. I'm a Huge fan of the one video game series and can probably tell you more then you would like to know about it. And a Burrick is a creature in it. They are Biped Lizard-like creatures with matty hair. There main known features are there ability to fire a gas projectile from their mouth, of which the flumes are quite deadly and will cause choking, and there Social structure. They spend alot of time digging out huge underground lairs and can be fairly protective of it, and will visually morn the dead of another of there kind. They are scavengers who will eat most things and have a hatred of the undead.

The lower legs didn't quite come out right but not bad, there is a little nub from the pour hole I didn't get off right but it was more a test to see if the mould I quickly made cast right. I based the design on a concept art image more then the in-game polygon version, which if you look at the texture map, it does have more defined scales then I put into it, but I don't think I'm good enough to do that kinda detailed work. The concept art was pretty close to the final thing, but it was a bit less scales and more leathery skin. In game.. it was hard to tell (90s polygons, limited and a bit stretched texture map.

I might see about a resin cast which I can refine a bit, or wait till I get around to ordering some leaded metal which would be easier to work with in refining the bits. Still got the green so I might be able to just tweak that but I would prefer not ^_^. It might be a little bit too big (25mm base) but with alot of first person games, scale was what looks good and works well, more then being 100% in scale with everything. So I worked out what it roughly was and used that.

just noticed just how bad some bits of the photos are.. can't even see the tongue..

thanks, I'll try to take some better shots. Phone I find is a bit soft, Camera is old and not good light erm.. whatever the name for the exposure on such a camera.. so need to pick which is best ^_^

I too suffer from poopy phone camera syndrome. I feel your pain.

And that's from Thief isn't it? Looks good, sculpting looks spot on and paintings on point. You gonna do more in various poses?

Thief! Well done! The first game was magnificent. (I still haven't quite beaten the last level. Twice I've somehow come up short on ammunition at crucial moments. Though I have beaten other games in the series, and all the other levels.) Anyway, bravo! Well done indeed! I never expected to like the Burricks, but they are sweet little things. With the most horrifying belches ever, but given what they eat I suppose that's not surprising.

new batteries for my camera ^_^ (need to figure out a way to fix the battery compartment door though.. I've been using a elastic band for some time)

anyway.. So took a quick photo:

for some reason, it didn't focus on the figure so much as.. I'm not sure what.

other good news is after my eye test, I was right about how bad my near vision was getting and my new glasses should be really good so I can focus without holding the figure some distance away and making small details a pain.

even worse, when I try magnifier glasses.. well, one the light doesn't work any more so its a bit limiting, the other I have to have one eye closed and still need to hold it a distance way.. but I do see it much larger.. just not too keen on them.. probebly need to get more used to them but oh well

hopefully getting my new glasses this week which should greatly improve my eye sight but even when I try to understand it, I don't fully understand the prescription stuff ^_^

anyway.. in the mine time:
Moonstone 'Snag'.. which is.. erm.. I call it Zombie Tree Beast.. or Zombie Trent.. or whatever you source term for animated tree.. but with the pose and all, I think clearly zombie ^_^. I didn't get this set for that figure (part of a set of three) but it's the first one I got painted up as wood is pretty easy. Resin sculpt on 40mm base.

Sign was meant to say 'Feck Off' but what you can see of that E.. no clue what that is the skeleton off as it's pretty big for human. I like the mouse though.

And on a more older front, I wanna say.. It's a 2002 era Moongoose Metal Judge (probebly Dredd) cause I don't think it's one of the Citadel ones.. With a Lawgiver mk2 which annoies me a bit cause I painted it up as a Mk1 till I noticed

always look worse in photos due to the whole zoom thing.. and looks like I might need to tweak the red tirming on the right side of his helmet. 30mm base.

That's a great Dredd model, nice gold you've done.

Moonstone is tempting every time I go into the games store! Liking the treeman. Out of interest can you construct your own groups/gangs/teams/squads (whatever they are in the game) or do they need to be from the groups of minis on sale? I really should (well I really shouldn't actually) have a proper look at the rules at some point.
