Minotaur from Warhammer Quest. Something is wrong and I can't put paint on it!

Really horrible one. Started horribly and ended as it started. Good ( or what's worse ) thing is that, there's two more to paint.

Thanks! I've got two more to paint. I already see that this one will be the best one hehe This green and that red Chaos mark are wrong I think. Colour of the gloves doesn't help.

What's wrong with that? If you really can't stand how he's turned out, try to give some visual interest to the skin applying some little dots of a different colour around the recesses/near the furry parts.

Looks fine to me.

Thinking about painting the other two differently? One with dark skin & fur and the other with pale fur & skin could make an interesting contrast.

2 Tex - Was thinking about that really. I did have few spots here and there from dry brushing fur. On the next two I'll go little bit loose with all that.

2 Citizen Sade - Yes, one black like from Daeth Zone box art, there somewhere. Other, dunno, will go as you suggested, completely light. Will add some green stuff to them and try to do this and that.

Paint Screaming Skull Catapult. Photo isn't that good but if you cannot see, it's yogurt class paintwork on catapult. Will tight up crew little bit before varnish.

So little update. They all missing banners ( even Zombies ) and there is no backdrop painting. Those things I'm not able to do at the moment 8-)

Also I don't like that narrow banner poles. No room for anything.

Skeletons with bows. Did entrance level "conversion" on standard bearer. Since it's with the bow crew I've exchange sword with the Wood Elves Scout bow. It is little bit drunk but close enough hehe

RB1.jpg

Skeleton Regiment with hand weapons. Decide to use those stickers for shields.

SR1.jpg

Did manage to finish all three mummies in one go.

M1.jpg

Wraith. Did the same colour scheme as on Vampire Lord and I knew I saw this disaster before.

W1.jpg

Did almost all WHQ box minis ( no gobbos since we use those already painted ). Most in solid colours then later here and there details. Must say it's good way ( at least for me ) I don't get bored of painting all-as-one models. Daemon Slayer and Wizard are finished, others are in process. Barbarian even got Wight sword and little bit more fur on his coat.

WR1.jpg

Skavens. Who designed those? I mean, impossible to rank and file them. They suppose to be cheap way to build army. Someone forgot that they're on 20mm bases. I think I did those in 2 days. Very easy to paint and very readable minis.

Orcs and all those other ( Bats, Snotlings and Spiders ) later when battery recharges.

Orcs. I did mistake placing them on diagonal bases. They do rank as normal but looks silly must say. Tried out different greens. Learned nothing.

Arrers. All-as-one painting scheme.

O2.jpg

Won't bother myself with Minotaurs, Rats, Bats and Snotlings as they don't stand on that grass at all. They're not painted anyway.

Really easier since you got models to play with that look fair enough but most of the work ( at least to me ) is done, so details here and there once in a while. Using that style of painting only on these all-as-one models. Others I paint one by one.

I quite like the variety of skins tones you have used on your orcs. I think that the whole unit looks really nice.

Thank you OuteRimTim. I think that I've made too much difference between skin colours and shields. Got 20+ more plastic ones to try out hehe

Cheers Fimm McCool and Tex.

Got some Undead next but I'll update here in bulk style I think. More shattered progress ( of all things ) will be on my freshly started blog https://2sqmonplanetearth.blogspot.com/ so I don't poison this thread with this and that(s).

Blog didn't last long hehe Too much talk with myself.

Did manage to make group photos of my Undead and brother's Gobbos.

Newly painted Chariot. I like these stickers. It's easy to use them since they're going on flat surface ( Didn't have any luck with 3rd edition Blood Bowl ).

Skeleton-Chariot.jpg

Undead Amry. Decided that I'll go with 4th edition and lower ( miniatures wise but 4th edition all in all ).

Undead-Amry.png

Brother's Gobbos. Nothing new here but since I did group photo with new hills and background I'll put them again. Thanks to EricF I got my buttery fingers on Javis flock. It did turn little bit darker after I sealed it with heavily diluted wood glue but looks very nice. All trees are gone.

Next are Warhammer Quest starter miniatures. Some freshly repainted and I did cast dungeon wall in resin ( for background ). Shortly ( loose term ).

Ok, so I finished all minis from Warhammer Quest box ( except door frames, I'll leave them as is ) but I don't have surface to photograph them since dungeon rooms are 4x4 and I want full coverage of floor. I decided that I'll draw them on illustration board ( got those Canson laying around for ages and they slot pretty nicely in the door frames ) in Wright manner ( I think Wright draw most of the boards for GW ), I mean I'll try hehe You know how that will go. Will take a while but until then...

Sculpting, taking mould and all that.

Sculpted in milliput. I was thinking if I sculpted on surface like this that I could easily remove it but that wasn't the case so I chopped one of those containers for nuts and bolts and glue it to the surface. Also, got this nasty hard brown part of milliput ( I think it's preservation oil or something? ). Every milliput so far that I bought is like that. One tube is good other is with hard brown "skin".

M1.png

Then I mix Smooth-On 1 on 1 silicone.

M2.png

Looking good. No misfortune with this. It is very simple sculpt but then again...

M3.png

Overflow is the name of the game.

M4.png

Came out nicely. No fehlers.

M5.png

Did cast two more. On third I did something wrong with mixture ( Smooth-On liquid plastic 1 on 1 ) so it's little bit blue, and I didn't have ( Didn't know it even exist ) paint so they're clear ( Expecting grey before opening the jars ). Glue them with super glue. Stuck together almost instantly.

M6.png

Litle bit of green stuff.

M7.png

Undercoated and then drybrushed. Looking less then mediocre but I do intend to put some stones up front and moss and everything else. Also, build up more stones since there are monsters in the game and they would be higher then this wall.

M8.png

Also, rest of that liquid plastic killed corn based plastic cup! Sound and smoke and everything. I was thinking if this fall on the floor it will make a hole. Now it's hard as a rock.

M9.jpg

I think photos might be big?

I hope it won't take long to make 8x11 square plate? hehe

OK, I did draw the lines on illustration board but then I started to paint some of the brother's Orcs. I really like these minis. Fantastic looking and very simple to paint them. I did think of painting all-as-one Orcs but after 10 minutes I decided to undercoat metal ones and start them. I don't think I'll continue with plastic ones because there are more metal Orcs to paint and some characters too.

Really like this green with yellow skin scheme. Will paint all Orcs like this except some characters and Black Orcs of course. Don't know about Savage Orcs, maybe little bit muted green? Like Forest Goblins from the army book.

Skin is very simple one. Caliban Green, Warpstone Glow, Moot Green and Phalanx Yellow. Since I use wet palette and I paint one by one I really don't know % of colour mixing but I undercoat them with black Citadel spray. Then Caliban Green two times. Then I mix Warpstone with Caliban, little by little as I pleased. Then Warpstone alone, then mix with Moot, little by little and then Moot alone and then Phalanx little by little and at the end here and there Phalanx alone. Since I'm mediocre in painting minis I do quite often go over colour island of colour before and since I don't wait paint to dry I do start to get little bit of yogurt effect + rarely clean the brush ( at least 10 times reviving the brush per mini with cleaning soap ( if I remember that I have one ) and what not ) and I tend, I mean tend, more like personal signature, to paint everything with one size ( in this case No. 3 Isabey 6221, worth to mention, good brush, did survive me in last 5+ minis, still got good tip ).

I do metals with Iron Warrior and then diluted washes of Khorne Red and Abaddon Black, very diluted but not too much. Sometimes even with Incubi Darkness and similar paints and then, after it's dry, I paint over this and that with Iron Warriors and later with Leadbelcher here and there.

Also I do basing before undercoat. Basing, if you can call it basing but after I glue mini on the base I water down wood glue ( Bison Super Wood Glue, dries really fast, like 30 minutes for diluted coat ) and sand, then over sand once more with very diluted wood glue. After it's dry I undercoat them with Chaos Black spray. I always give them one more hand coat of Abaddon Black because I like to avoid any overflow, even I'm pretty heavy with spraying. Also first thing I paint is that base. Very light coat so it isn't black. Sometimes I do differently hehe

Now to paint 2nd row of 4.

1st row of 3 rows. It's 12 Orc Boyz regiment.

Now I notice that I didn't photo them from behind but it's really like scene with Rodney and Del when Rodney trying out the winter coat hehe Remember that one? Classic.
