No. 44. I've never painted a Battle Masters Chaos Warrior Stand before.

Low quality models really, but a pleasure to paint.

Number 45 - Alternative Armies Celtic Myth Sidhe sculpted by Bob Olley
Love these old AA minis, the Sidhe and the Fomorians are among the best fantasy minis AA ever released, never painted any of the guys from this blister pack so I had to get my hands on them. Tempted to pick up the rest and make a unit of them now.

Very nice painting on the Sidhe. :)

A lovely old Bob Olley sculpt, which again shows that they look odd sculpting until someone paints them up well.

Yes Bob Olley miniatures need paint to be seen at what they really are and this one is a really good one !

No 45

Never painted a Lord Borak the Despolier, I haven't had time to paint any figure in months, the months of non activity is the only explanation I can offer for this colour explosion

Thanks, I was trying to go for a Jim Fitzpatrick look and feel.
Gonna grab a Fomorian next I think, pretty sure I have some laying about in the lead pile.

I'm late to the party but:

No. 47 - I've never painted an elf before.
Despite having a whole army of them looking at me forlornly from the 'next project but one or two' pile.

This marauder chap is based for Song of Blades and Heros on the basis he represents 1/6th of a warband so there's a 5% chance I might complete the project. In my heart I know the chances of completing that 3rd Edition High Elf army are slim :(

Phreedh - I love the vibrant colours on the AA celt (which is a great figure - it's almost 'hint of Olley' in style which I must confess I prefer to his normal work). Did you paint over a white undercoat?

Mr Firebreather - good to see your back on the painting wagon although I'd contend there's no such thing as too much colour ;)

Me?
I use black undercoat with a very light white zenithal, I have a few more Sidhe on the painting desk at the minute and some 4A sea goblins that I'm regretting undercoating black, but I have doubles so I'll have to see how the first few turn out and maybe adjust from there. The reptilian armour they are equipped with could probably do with a nice white undercoat.

Love that elf, I like the marauder elves, a nice throwback to Aly's early elves for citadel which are fantastic imho.

Ahh, sorry - basic reading skills obviously letting me down. Potentially a dumb question but what's a black undercoat with a very light white zenithal when it's at home and does it save time? Certainly your colours have the vibrant 'over white' look which is pretty labour intensive from straight black.

And thanks for the nice comments. Oh yes, I am a big fan of the Morrison elves, probably his early citadel ones over these but I do like most things Marauder and elf-y. The Abomination that is the high elf mage on pegasus excluded of course...

Re: I've Never painted a ....... before - The Fantasy 100 cl

Since getting a cheap airbrush for xmas I prime with black Vallejo polyurathane primer, then from directly above I spray a very light, light grey to pick out the detail.
You can see the result here
SlAM6Qp.jpg

It gives me the black undercoat that I like as I'm already a slow painter and shading down into recesses is a step to far for me, but has the advantage of helping pick out details.
I started using vallejo glaze medium recently to try to improve my painting, so I normally go foundry base colour, then wash, then glaze medium and base then mid colour, and finally a few highlights with the light colour of the triad.

48. I've never painted a fimir before :

Fimirs are cleraly a iconic race of 3rd ed but the collective madness surrounding them has always lead me to fear them as pest. This one is sculpted by Jes Goodwin though and he's the size intended by Greame and Jez at thetime (unlike the later Bibby ones) I love it becase you get a lot of Goodwin trademarks on this one (but the usual pouch) but there still is something peculiar, a sort of nobility you don't get in the others (though they're wonderful sculpts too).
I will probably paint 4 HQ friends to make a 5 man unit but it's starting to sound like "fimir contingent" isn't it ?

Bulldog, come now it was only 53:00 minutes but who is counting. LOL

I wonder what would happen if I actually had the patience to paint one figure over the course of a week. ;)

I usually spend about 2 hours per figure sometimes 3 just depends if I am in the zone or not and that's it. I really can't stand much more then that.

Re: I've Never painted a ....... before - The Fantasy 100 cl

I try and do that. Sometimes I can knock out a figure in an evening, but most times ti takes me a week.

I get distracted eas
