I've always known poppet to just be a little doll, not specifically having arcane connotations (although sometimes also used for witchy things along with moment). It's definitely a term of endearment around here.

But 'poppet' origins are witchcraft dolls I believe (for spells, magical supplication etc). Her family are from a village by Pendle hill, East Lancs so she should know..

I'll have 10 days when I get back home to do something for this challenge. Should be plenty. Only problem is, trying to rummage through the leadpile in my head without actually seeing it, I don't have a very strong concept of what I want to paint. To be fair, I think several of my forces are lacking an obvious 'leader' type so it shouldn't be too difficult...

I just stumbled upon this part of the forum, and as destiny would have it I actually painted up this leader character yesterday so I figured he could offer himself as this month's tribute.
The miniature ("Marcea Lupul") is from the Silver Bayonet game. But I have painted him up to look less Dracula'esque and more like some sort of a nobleman from the north. His sword however is very sinister, and it is said that he whispers to it in the dark of the night. He will be leading a troop of mercenaries that will be defending the borders from the invading worshipers of Chaos.
