Archaeopteryx's Mild Case of Lead Poisoning

Exquisite painting here, I love it.

Just realised the bells at the end of the Bob Olley'beatsman loincloth... those are bells with an "e" right ?

I'm still waiting for painted examples of Bob's naughty Beastmen to show up here...Citadel Collector surely has the minis.

That is a fantastic bunch of beasties you have there. And I like Asslessman's observation. Surely a large pair of bells. I can only imagine the clapper. That's probably on the sculpts Count von Bruno hints at. (I am intrigued, but can't seem to find them qicklly with Google. Will have to look around more carefully.)

Can't believe I haven't looked at this thread before, the stealers are absolutely fantastic, and weirdly enough I ordered that SCW van a week ago.
I love the mods you have done to it, what did you kitbash them from?

These are amazing miniatures - full of character and really classic. I was looking at old pics of genestealer cult recently and saw some limos, yours is sublime mate

Thanks everyone!

Count Von Bruno-

Thanks symphonicpoet. The bells of the Bob Olley beastman are a very amusing detail, too bad those even ruder beastmen didn't make it past the censor. The Realm of Chaos era miniatures are full of these cheeky kind of things, I mean the symbol of Nurgle is a school-boy style cock and balls for pete's sake!

Cheers Aiteal, well I really don't consider myself much of a modeller and have done very little to the stock model. I mainly just added some bits and pieces from plastic kits I had lying around (in a very haphazard manner)- imperial guard search lights for headlights, a tyranid head for the figure head on the bonnet, a jet turbine from some gw kit on the rear, some tubing from I think imperial guard heavy weapons, replaced the wheels with "anti grav propulsion" which are also made from imperial guard search lights. Then just painted it copying the style of the limos from the famous 40k Compilation cult.

Well it looks fantastic, i was planning on keeping mine quite vanilla, as I've always liked the little vignette piece written in WD that had the cult leaping out of ropey old ex army vehicles to counter attack the chaos renegade would be ambushers. But the look you've gone for has me in two minds now. I don't have much in the way of plastic kits, and not that many 40k minis in general, aside from a few resin spotlights I bought for a scooby doo van I'm procrastinating over for 7ombieTV, so I'll have to keep my eye out on ebay for bits and pieces and shamelessly steal your interpretation.

Just noticed your hobgoblins too, they look wonderful :)

Just finished uploading some photos I managed to snap of a new batch of figures. This week I've been working on Space Pirates! It has been a lot of fun painting these as they have so much variety, and it was a good opportunity to go to town with ridiculous bright clashing colour schemes!

Also trying a new way to base stuff as I think my figures have been lacking in that area, trying to do something a bit like the late 80s GW studio bases. What do you think?

Aiteal- That's a cool little story I agree. I look forward to seeing what you do with your limo!

Your work is always fantastic Archaeopteryx, but the pirates are my new favourites.

The character in the sculpts is brought out absolutely perfectly by your painting. Brilliant.

Your pirates are fantastic! My favourite is the fat pirate with his natty red and yellow outfit.

All the little details (headbands, stubble, bizarre lipstick colour) really make them pop!

Bloody hell, that pirate lot is fantastic! Very fine job Archaeopteryx! The attention to detail is stunning.

INcredible work here once again. Especially if you consider some of those are clearly not easy to work with in the first place. you have a distinctive style and it seems to work on all ranges and styles of models. Kinda jealous actually

Jealous was among the first words that pop up :? Wish my pirates looked as flashy and charismatic as yours
