Stirrups WIP

I hope you see what I'm doing here: the leather strap will go around the orc's foot and will be fixed just above it with a stud (pics are of the left stirrup, btw).

I've just realised I've not posted pics of the girth: I've not taken any of the finished article yet, but it's done; these wip pics can give you an idea of what it looks like:

When the stirrups will be done AND attached to the orc's feet I'll be able to start working on the beast and its base: I'll probably have to build the base first in order to adapt the groundwork to the beast's feet.
Having almost finished the leather gear is quite a relief, I tell you: experimenting with leather tones is fun, but I was running out of ideas

Please don't jinx it!

It turns out it's a compliment, though, as both straps are quite sturdy and their fragile appearance comes mainly from the painted-on texture:
the girth's got a core of masking tape covered in GS; the stirrups are plain GS, but still perfectly bendable as needed

Started working on the base AND realised I had forgotten the de rigueur forked tongue

In the meanwhile, I finished painting the last leather piece (right stirrup):

Left stirrup assembled (stud will be weathered after assembly):

Still LOTS to do: I'm going to try and add some colour variation to the legs in the form of green and brown, maybe using dots of oil paints to use as filters
The underbelly will end up being painted in the same colour the legs are atm
The current green will be enriched with lighter spots in a darker "web"

The Oldhammer movement confirms itself as hot stuff: go and check the winning entries in the Miniature Painting Open competition held by Cult of Paint -> Winners
(Standard - Unit category - Silver award)

...some old fart of a painter dared to enter an out-of-focus pic of some out-of-production orcs and quite incredibly succeeded  )
