For some WIP pictures, see here, here and here. This model also was my Golden Gobbo 2025 entry.

[Warfork Fantasy Battles] Nurgle Daemon Prince

In my pile of shame is The Slaughterer from Crippled God Foundry, which I 3d printed (resin printer) in Septembre 2023, and which is waiting since then for a paint treatment...

Now, that I got an FDM printer, I wanted to check how well suited it is compared to the resin printer for minis. So I printed the model again. I must say, I was quite surprised. The result is way better than I expected. Still, for minis, I think I will stick to using the resin printer.

But now I had the same model, twice unpainted... so time for a quick side project. I recently saw Paint Using GLUE || Grimdark Flesh Technique || Tzeentch Screamer, by the Grimdark Compendium and wanted to give this method a try, perfect model for that, as it basically is flesh only, except for the apron and meat chopper.

Super impressive for FDM!

How did you find the glue painting technique? Looks an interesting method for creating texture and layers of colour.

I liked it. It offers possibilities which you don't have without the glue. It stops the iso touching previous layers. Theoretically you can erase the current layer completely, when you don't like it. I might use it again in the future.

[Warfork Fantasy Battles] C05 Chaos Familiar - Scroll Bearer

Recently, I found this classic for a somewhat reasonable price on ebay. I came ready primed, although the primer seemed to be a bit old, it was a rather dark white.

So for an easy first highlight, I drybrushed the mini a fresh white.

I then applied thinned Golden SoFlat Red Violet into the recesses. At this stage I discovered what is very apparent in the final picture: the mini was primed, but mold lines had not been removed... At this stage I didn't want to go back, as I already had three coats of paint on and did not want to start from scratch.

Main colors were applied as glaze, to let the two whites and the purple shading show through: Golden SoFlat Quinacridon Magenta and Golden SoFlat Cadmium Orange. The skin and scrolls were also mixed from these plus Golden SoFlat Bismuth Vanadate Yellow.

Over the magenta, I applied an oil wash with Schmincke Norma violet dark, removing it from the raused areas again. Into the base colors I then mixed Schmincke Zinc White for highlights. Lastly, I painted chaos runes with Pro Acryl Bold Titanium White.

Finally, I applied my usual base cover.
