[Warhammer Fantasy] Conquer the Chaos Lead Pile

[Warfork Fantasy Battles] Khorne Shrine

The Shrine to Khorne has a pond of blood, fed by a floating skull which is forever bleeding, sustaining the pond. A mini version of that skull is floating around the shrine, protecting it, saturating the sourrounding land with blood.

The worshippers of Khorne pass between two skull columns, to stand at the edge of the pond, and appraise the Lord of Blood!

[Warfork Fantasy Battles] Rotten Beastmen

I think this is the fastest I ever started to work ony a kickstarter haul (Rotten Reborn). The castings are very nice, hardly any flash, easy to assemble. Just in time, the Masterclass: John Blanche Vol. 1 & 2 from The Army Painter arrived a couple days ago, and I thought, what better minis to gives these colors a test than these.

I hope I managed to use the [Adult] tag correctly.

Nice skin tones on big boys, especially that yellowish-brown looks really good. Mind sharing your recipe for that one? I've been thinking of trying something similar to that with my troll(s). :)
Familiar definitely makes sense once you told about your thought process on it. Somewhat disturbing but fits the theme, so to say.

No, sorry, that's my secret ;)

These are all from the new Army Painter John Blanche sets, the ivory I used only very sparingly for the lightest highlights. The dark brown, light brown and yellow I wet blended on the mini, as a first step. When that was dry I applied highlights with layering.

(why such thin bases?)

Two reasons:

They are metal, which allows for magnetic sheets as bottom in copy paper boxes to be the (for me) ideal storage/transport solution.

I like thin bases. When you do a door in a building for example to scale of the mini, it is too low due to the base height. If you do the door so that it's height fits the mini on its base, it basically is too high.
Same for minis besides vehicles, for example, with a 3mm base, the vehicle roof seems to be too low, too, if the vehicle is in scale.

Well, at least that is always my impression.

[Warfork Fantasy Battles] The Bell of Yzhut

There, in the lonely stretches of the Chaos Wastes, was a place, where Yzhut, a long time ago, assembled a horde of followers of Chaos, to invade the realms of humanity to the south. To assemble as much minions as possible, he had a bell tower constructed. The bell, cast from bronze and the blood of his foes, was magïckally enhanced, by sorcerors of great chaotic power. When it had been constructed and was struck by the latest Champion of Chaos' skull, mounted on his own sword, that Yzhut had defeated, it sounded for a much greater distance than it physically should have. It also sounded on different levels, on the acoustic, on the magïckal, on the subconcius and even more levels since forgotten. The effect was large numbers of all kinds of twisted man and beast converging on it, from all across the Chaos Wastes. Yzhut united them all under his banner and started his great rampage into human land.

No one knows when all of this happened.

No one knows how successful Yzhut's march was.

No one knows if he survived it.

No one knows if Yzhut actually was 'he' or maybe 'she', in between or beyond sexes, or even human.

No one knows which of the Chaos Gods Yzhut actually followed - but all claim, it was their own.

Even the exact location, where the Bell of Yzhut has been constructed, remains unknown. Some claim to know it - only to not find it, when they set out for the alleged location. Others, not even looking for it, suddenly stumble upon it, on their endless trek through the Chaos Wastes - only to not find it again, when they return to the exact same spot some time later.

When the Bell of Yzhut is found, it sometimes allows the Champion who rings it to call forth a mighty host, similar in size to what legend has it Yzhut himself was able to summon. Sometimes, only a few new followers show up. Sometimes the bell even does not ring at all. It is also told, that Champions have been struck down upon ringing it by bloodred lighting arching from the bell through the Champion into the ground.

The Champions which successfully rang it were followers of Khorne, Malal, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch alike, and even followers of lesser Chaos Powers. It seems to work (or not) the same for all kinds of Champions of Chaos.

Thus, lucky might be who happens to find it - or to whom the Bell of Yzhut reveals itself...? Condemned are those who set out to seek it, as they most probably will not be able to locate it during their miserable life in the service of the dark powers.

For in the Wastes of Chaos, much is fickle and unpredictable...

I got a voucher from Etsy for my birthday, which I used for a Bell Tower from Mini Monsters. Quality is, as always with them, top notch; hardly any flash, parts fit very well, no trace of bubbles.
