here are the dwarves foreshadowed in my previous post.

on the left is the kitbashed rtb10 squat with a warhammer regiments head, frostgrave plastics barbarian left arm, airfix 1:48 operation herrick british squaddie right arm with wine bottle foil pauldron and vambrace, and a flintloque musket. next and on the far right are simple (the unkind might say crude) conversions of the fantasy warriors plastic dwarf crossbow, then another ral partha dwarf and the final ttg dwarf.

i've tried to disguise the fantasy warriors dwarves quivers as general pouches; i'll let you decide whether i've succeeded.
the last batch of dwarf hand gunners have just received their wash so should appear here soon.

He looks great. The old plastic squat heads make great conversion fodder. (I used one on for my take on Logan Grimpuss and cut up the "official" model to make something else.) And that dragon horse is incredibly cool. Love the way you used it!

As to names, you need something solidly 80s feeling. Bax or Dex might work if you want to go more darkly serious. Bert or Biff if you want a slightly lighter and more tongue in cheek feel. A Rutger Hauer reference is never a bad way to go, so you could call him Sallow or Ryder or something like that. Or maybe Rabbit or Tug out of Solarbabies if you want to be really cheeky and obscure.

thank you.
i hadn't heard of solarbabies before; i'll see if i can find it to stream as it looks like my kind of thing.

here's the final batch of dwarves with handguns.

in the middle is the last of the ral rartha dwarves; the rest are uncharted lands uld003 dwarf explorers with muskets from crusader miniatures.

i've switched the two on the end here to accommodate the pose of the one reloading his musket.
here is the complete kaiserzwerge unit:

i have a few figures to obtain in order to finish off this project, so not sure quite where i'm going from here.

i was a bit premature, as i had these figures on the painting table.

in the middle is the relatively recent gw dwarf lord with pistol in white metal. the others are from amazon miniatures, although i have just discovered, thanks to lenihan, that they are originally from dixon miniatures. the two on the left are armed as intended and the two on the right lightly converted.

i've started a thread on the private sale/trade board for the figures i need to complete this project: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28198, at least in it's current form.

thank you; pretty much all the anschlusszwerge have their helmets painted in splinter camouflage.
i was going to paint my gyrocoptors, but have misplaced the neodium magnets i want to use to attach them to their flight stands. instead i've made another couple of ruined terrain tiles.

the first comprises an amera plastic moldings crater, a bit of the gw osgiliath ruins kit, a couple of 'church ruins' pieces picked up from a show many years ago. i'm fairly certain it was vapnartak, but have no idea as to the manufacturer. anyway, i thought the stonework scaled well enough wit the osgiliath piece to combine them.

the second uses approx. two thirds of the warlord games ruined farmhouse kit picked up from phoenix wargames show, an amera barricade, and my last two citadel vac-formed craters.

on to skavtember, although i have another terrain tile under construction which i'd also like to get finished.

thanks ketil.
in 2017 i set myself the task of making terrain tiles for the scenarios in frostgrave, to fit in with my existing ruined terrain (so frostless). i managed to make the mausoleum and then progressed no further. i have now managed to construct my take on the silent tower.

there's a part of the osgiliath ruins outlining the remains of the forecourt, but apart from that it's a scratch build.

the towers are formed from a pringles tube (slimmest, mid-height), a port bottle box (shortest, mid-girth), and a carpet tube (biggest).

the pringles tube got lots of bulking up with off cuts from the port box, since the card is far thinner than the other two and it needed heft added to look like a masonry construction.
i made a bit of an error with the placement of stairs and floors on that tower, but i don't think it will sufficiently egregious to ruin the suspension of disbelief during games.
whilst i'm pleased to have this done, and the results, it's eaten up too much of skavtember.

finally got skavtember underway:

plastic clanrats from the island of blood wfb8 boxset.

despite being a smidgeon bigger, these are a very good stylistic match for the original jes goodwin sculpted chaos ratmen.

i didn't want to use the flail arms in this unit, since in wfb2 and 3 they are not classed as hand weapons. this required a weapon substitution, so the fellow in the middle has a right arm from the frostgrave barbarians sprue.

since i'd squandered so much of skavtember finishing the silent tower, i took the unusual measure of painting all twenty of these in a single batch, rather than the groups of five (or so) that form my usual modus operandi. it wasn't a lot of fun, but at least they're done.

this pretty much completes my painting of the island of blood box. i'm not keen on the rat ogres, so don't intend to use them.

and here they are incorporated into a unit, though they will in fact get scattered throughout my hand weapon and shield equipped unit, to break up the uniformity of the different styles and make the whole lot into an anarchic horde.

some slaves and a slave driver, to join the slave regiment.

from left ot right we have an alternative armies erin sidhe, citadel barbarian, black tree designs ver'man, i-kore celtos gael, and another citadel barbarian.

currently all my slaves are human, but if anyone can recommend (near) naked, spear-armed, figures of other species, i am open to greater diversity.

I'm really glad AA have brought back the Erin range. Lovely grubby sculpts. The Celtos range has some of my favourites in it too.

yes, there are some pretty nice figures in the range (and many of aa's other ranges too).
here's my last batch of skavtember figures:

pirats from macrocosm miniatures. i think i backed the kickstarter for these and have another officer and musket armed figures still to paint. there were quite a few others in the range, including a couple of cavalry but, sadly, they are no longer on their website.

they'll join my fortress figures pyrats in clan renj's naval (surface and aerial) contingent.

this orctober i'm intending to focus on the snotling contingent of the blue moon crew.

i'm planning three to a (moderately scenic) base, both to maximise value for money and because i think it's a better representation of the a3, w3 revised statline.

i'll be basing them in groups which are similarly armed, although warhammer armies only allows hand weapons, with the possible addition of spore weapons. i may ignore this.

sorry about the poor quality of the photo's, again.

I think they look lovely... it's a little hard to tell.
I love snotling bases and little dioramas, they're such dynamic characters it's great to see them get their own narratives.

thank you for your faith! i don't know what's gone wrong with my photo. setup over the last couple of months.

The ruined castle looks particularly nice. Can't wait to see it in action! :)

yeah, i need to carve sometime out to play games again.

anyway, i've tried adding some more light, and here are another couple of snotling bases. hopefully, the images will be a little clearer.

there are a couple of newer, larger ones scattered in here.

there are more of both styles to come.

i hope you can see these better. i'll keep trying to see if i can improve the studio!

more snotlings:

a couple of (now) warmonger orclings to reinforce the old citadel, which includes the snotling saw master from the limited edition blister including the dwarf with inferiority complex (shown on a previous year's wip thread). all my orclings came as ramage in foundry renaissance orcs preview blisters.

citadel snotlings old and new here.

all old citadel on these bases, including a pre-snotling lesser goblin. i'd like to get more of these, if i can find them for an equally diminutive price.
