The Lost and the Damned

Thank you, that's very kind.

Most of my Scotia Grendel stuff I bought when I first got into wargaming from a wonderful old model school model shop which had a gaming corner full of blisters and books (I still have a few bits - mostly terrain unpainted). I've recently been tempted to get some of their SciFi terrain pieces as they have such a nostalgic look (ala the plaster & sand casting suggested in the Rogue Trader rulebook), mostly because of course they are all old models! So I suppose technically they had a contemporary look :) I did find all mine needed a good scrub to get the release agent off, but otherwise they've been a pleasure to paint.

I think in a way, I was lucky with some of what I got back in the day. Some was just what was out at the time, but others were kinda 'these are old, there fore not worth much and you can have them'. while I ended up with alot of Fantasy Regiment Skaven, AHQ Skaven, lot of RT plastic marines, even got things like some of Kev Adams' Ruglud's Armoured Orcs (Regiments of Renown).. though at the time, When I got my Death master, it was like £3.99 which was a bit of a fancy buy not but too high at the time for me.

Scotia Grendel still have a lot of there old stuff in production and do new stuff in the same (ish) style.

So at last the beasties are done. So lets start with a group shot:

You may recall these needed new feet sculpting, which was how I managed to get four of them for about £90. Of course I then read the rules and realised you are supposed to have units of seven. However given the cheapest I see them is about £40-50 I might just stick with my four.

Happy with them, the only thing I wish maybe I'd done (and maybe this would be a good reason to get three more) was do them in different colours. I think they could look rather good with a bolder approach had they been in the hands of @epicsatsuma or @Orjetax for instance. One day I'll get bolder in my colours! (although I just tried that on a Hydra and decided I wasn't sure so ... )

Anyhow some better shots of each:

You had already of course seen the bases. These are 3D printed ones (not that I knew when buying) although I have since discovered GW do sell 60x40mm bases of their own. Had I known I'd probably have bought a set as I dislike the layer lines.

So I think I have a small war band of Nurgle like chaps unpainted and a ForgeWorld Great Unclean One, but actually might be getting close to having all my Nurgle stuff painted! Scary thought.

Lovely Nurgle doggos! Maybe some more glossy slime would help the grossness?

You likely already know, but L72 have a couple of homage sculpts at a more reasonable price?

I've been wondering about those since Manic mentioned them when I was mulling over my change of heart . The Beasts are quite interesting since they have had so many sculpts (I have the most recent), I think it's up to five if you count the EPIC one. I may yet indulge myself in the fan sculpts, I still can't quite decide if I like them or not, then again I was never sure about the beast above!

They'll get some select gloss varnish when they get varnished. Probably a bit on the underbelly and the tentacles for that authentic Nurgle look.

Cor.... bit amazed and also scared at this coolstuff
Your too kind, thank you.

Glad to be reminded of this thread, these beasts look fabulous. Very successful color transitions in particular. Love them.

In disgusting kind of way they look very good and almost cute in their derpiness. I bet cleaning mould lines from their hairdos was an experience?

Sheesh. No wonder alternative sculpts might be tempting.
