The Lost and the Damned

Cheers guys, much appreciated. Obviously I love the older models that GW produced, but they can still produce the occassional good plastic kit, plaguebearers and beastmen being such. Also plastic lends itself for me to be destructive and creative with bitz and models, something I've learnt not to be so free with when it comes to my old, cherished lead models!

Having said that there are only a few minor conversions with the following Marauder Troll Slayers which I've painted up as Chaos Dwarfs (for the purposes of my Retinue Table challenge they are vanilla chaos dwarfs, but eventually they will become Chaos Dwarf Beserkers - with added tattoos - to add to my Chaos Allies force...).

D8 Chaos Dwarfs:

And a group shot of the 8 of them (eventually to be 14 for Nurgle's sake):

Oh and these guys will be making an appearance at BOYL 2014...

Any C&C appreciated!

Cheers.

Wow! Awesome idea and execution!

Cheers man!

Here's a Chaos Sorcerer which I've just completed for my Retinue Table challenge. Originally he was designed to be a Chaos Warrior but to me looks full of magic and I imagine him dabbling in the dark arts of Nectomancy as much as the Lore of Nurgle:

I've tried to paint him in a sickly yellow hue, using a few washes of yellow over a white basecoat and then some darker brown glazes to make it look really diseased. Finally a few layers of purple/red/black and Tamiya clear red for the bloody areas.

Love this sculpt, especially the details like the severed hand on his belt, the leather pouch on his staff and the Nurgle marking on top of his head.

Looking at it now, his medallion needs a little something to add to the magical aura of him...

I've totally forgotten to update his thread with all my new nurgle additions, largely because I've been blogging as a way to record my progress. It's probably not great forum etiquette but, if you're interested, you can keep up with my progress there (see the link in my signature). It's so much quicker to upload pictures onto a blog than a forum and I can have all my hobby strands together there! Pop over if you're interested!

The pale palette works excellently.
The conversions hark back to the glory days of old!

Pucker looking army mate. Looking forward to further updates.

A really nice example of what can give a mix between New and Old : plus, those Beastmen are terrific !
The bases look all very swampy, "The Lost and the Damned" Style : +1 Point
Really good work, with an amazing result !

I haven't updated this for a while, but I'd like to share my recent Lost and Damned efforts in this thread, cos they all look good together in one place:

Marauder Goblins:

Some Orcs:

A Chaos Dwarf Mortar:

Some Jes Goodwin Ogres:

And there's a load more stuff in the painting queue will I'll update you with here and there's a bit more detail and more photos of this and other stuff on my blog. Thanks.

Here's a Great Unclean One that I've just finished. I've adjusted the position of the head by making the neck longer and adding some rice and beads into the greenstuff to create boils and then added a couple of old Citadel Mummies to the base to show Papa Nurgle's benevolence towards lepers and disease.

On my blog there's more detail on the quick and experimental painting approach that I took for this figure, if you're interested.

More great stuff from you.
I mean ... I am just painting toy soldiers ... you are creating art.

Fantastically creepy. I like that you used quite a variety of colours without it ending up garish thanks to the pale highlighting.
