I think there's value in not discussing off-forum until we've thrashed out a bit, certainly I'd prefer the creatives should be approached individually rather than on the FB group en-mass,

I agree but after reconsidering things a bit, it's probably better to just tell them directly what we intend to do rather than just post a sample with names for which none of the 3 individuals have been questioned.

Well Warlord Paul decided to take matters into his own hands and post the sample on Facebook with the following message:

"the project is being taken on by JB, a member of the French Oldhammer contingent, and I think he is aiming to produce something like 'Uthmog Elvenblade'. JB is confident he can make the project successful on his own but would love to have contributions from any former GW luminaries if they are willing (subject of renumeration is on the table) for the first classic-style fantasy mini produced by the community"

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

Yeah....James posted something on FB too!?!? I thought we had discussed waiting and not using a public venue like Facebook for this discussion?!

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

I've contacted Both Orlygg and Warlord Paul to have their help to raise the subject with the people we had in mind sine they have frequent contact with them on their FB page. I don't have a FB account so what I wanted was just for them to take the temperature before releasing anything. There has obviously been some misunderstanding and I apologise for it.
Like I've told here and to them, I'm not available right now to do the pedagogy work to explain the project over FB and it's a pity the thing is out without control for the time being. I guess the bright side of the thing is that we'll be settled on who would be willing to work with us.

I'm not sure that a public "call to offers" on facebook will gave us any usable feedback...

I know, it was sort of ironic
I haven't seen what was posted and what the reaction is but I'm sure e few words can help make understand that this was a sample and somehow premature. Some of you aree on both grousp so I don't see nothing that can't be fixed.
I'm sorry about this and hope the artists will understand. There's not much I can do now until monday night, as I'm typong this I'm finishing the last boxes to move home so I'm hands tied right now.

Drew Williams is quite happy to give you some advice about the pros and cons of getting a miniature designed, Asslessman. Whether that feedback will be 'useful' or not is not me to say. But he is a top sculptor and you should see the Rogue Trader stuff he is doing for his Old School marines, He certainly understands the vibe you are after. You just have to drop him a line and take it from there.

Then everything's fine, I'll register on the FB group to do the link between here and there and we'll get through this. We have both motivated people and multiple talents to use, I don't see much issues from here

Thanks Orlygg for the hand.

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

Well Warlord Paul decided to take matters into his own hands

As I was only doing what I was asked to do by Asslessman as a favour to him, I would very much appreciate it if this statement was retracted. No hard feelings of course, we all make mistakes!

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

Well it's nice of Drew to offer advice, and he's a talented chap, but the project isn't really about "who can we get off facebook to sculpt a miniature". Nor was this the best way to surface the project to long standing industry professionals. I'm sure there was no intention to harm the project, but really a little more decorum going forward wouldn't hurt.

Certainly.

Certainly what, Zhu? Certainly we all make mistakes? Certainly you retract the statement?

Don't mention it mate. Drew can be contacted here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Satyr-Art-Studio/463146913708886 and George Fairlamb (sculptor of the Hooked Horror/Daemon of Malal) is also willing to contribute to the project.

As I said I did ask Paul and Orlygg some help since I openly asked for help from the FB group and that they were the 2 first that came to my mind.

You may be right but that would be my fault then. I could have got myself a FB account even though I'm reluctant to using it for personnal reasons, and do the job myself. What I wanted was more someone taking the temperature to see if the artists would be responsive but as I didn't clearly state not to release the sample (maybe it was obvious to me), I can't blame them. You have the right to be upset about this going out so you can blame me if needed.
Now I don't see much harm done and though Orlygg offered drew's help, we can still consider who we want and that hasn't changed wo once again, I don't see no big trouble here. The main goal is to get this model designed and sculpted by artists we love and get it cast, let's take it easy on the rest. Getting talents and energy from both forum and FB Group is the only way as I see it.

Patrick Den Drijver has also come forwards on Facebook and is interested in supporting you in your project. So that is three potential sculptors!

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

@WarlordPaul. Yes, both!

@Assless, I'm not looking to blame anyone - just reporting on who said what and being grumpy. No hard feelings at all.

And just to make this more than a social visit...

I wonder what people would prefer - slotta or solid base?

good
I was thinking about the same thing and I think I have a slight bias for solid base

I don't mind,i just want a cool miniature

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

Solid base, no wider than 25mm, so that it will fit on the metal washers I use for bases. =)

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

I'd say solid base but no bigger than would sit on the appropriate base size to fit in the modern game.

Cheers

Vogon

Re: The infernal Champion : Proposition for the first forum

Slotta for me, can't stand thick solid bases. Also i don't really care for the added extras, just give me a figure I can paint and game with.
