The "How to do Oldhammer" Thread

Like these scarecrow/pumpkinhead troopers. Apologies if I missed your earlier posts about this, but where are the models from, and what do you intend to use them as in battle?

the figures are from rapier miniatures (http://www.rapierminiatures.co.uk/page/ ... ntasy.html) and i got them in packs of ten ...

i'm intending to use them as zombies, with perhaps some slight variation to the instability and other special rules. i'm intending to explain the colour scheme, give some background and the stats and special rules once i've finished painting all the figures and have posted pictures.

another update of pumpkin headed troopers. a note on the weapons: the packs came with a fair number of scythes, pitchforks and hayrakes, several sickles, and two maces each of a different style. i'm trying to keep each figure unique so am giving duplicate sculpts different weapons; to acheive this i've added some spears from a pack of lancashire games ancient germans.
here are the next five. as you can see, to overcome the problems with the pumpkin orange, i undercoated the heads white this time:

heads, hands and feet painted:

and the clothing:

i'm using the same green and light brown, but mixing the third colour for each batch of figures. if i'd thought of it at the time, i would have mixed up the figures in the batches, tp increase variety, but i didn't.

final details added:

... and, hopefully, saved by the dip:

i've made surprisingly good progress with 'sculpting' the musical instrument. here's the pose i'm using for the musician; any ideas what he's playing?

hmmm, that's a poor quality photo.

An update, finally!

Finally I get my act together!. I just realized I posted my intention to join in with this 2 weeks ago so without further ado I introduce to you the Altdorf 4th army Pikes and Hand gunners complete with command section. Loving all the great stuff on this thread, the pumpkin head infantry are really coming together and i'm looking forward to seeing the 15mm Half army, its such a cool idea.

Up to 16 complete. Finished the Seer and the command models to complete the infantry block.
The Seer

Command - Reasonably pleased with the results here, although I'm still not entirely satisfied with the verdigris on the drum and the shadows on the banner.

The finished unit.

I love that old Seer model with the pistol...you've done him proud!

The first of my "Imperial Guard" troops can now be shared since they have finished in the LPL

Here are two different shots of the same five figures.

Cheers,

Blue

Beautiful stuff Blue, they are making me think of David Lynch's Dune for some reason I can't quite put my finger on at the moment.

Thanks guys...I think htey are fun models and look great painted up. I'm very excited to get them on the table. I only played a few games of RT 40k back in the day...we were diehard Fantasy fans back then...but I'm really looking forward to introducing my gaming buddies to this new world(s) of gaming possibilities!

Cheers,

Blue

no one that interested, eh? oh well, here he is with the completed instrument anyway:

cardboard, milliput and wood went into the construction of the double bass, and the bow is also wood. Here's the flag bearer too.

Scarecrow standard based cropped.jpg

the final five (including these two) are now painted but awaiting the dip and production of a unit flag. with a bit of luck i'll be able to post them by the end of next week.
