WOW! So much wow.

Incredible detail and shading here.

Looking forward to a tutorial on how you managed this awesome!

Thanks, I'll try to take some step-by-step pictures for my next bombard.

Man, I have looked at them so often over in the Brewery and stil I am in awe everytime. They are unreal. Love it.

Makes me ask myself why I even bother with painting  .

Time for an update: dwarf slayers!

I may replace Throbin by an ordinary slayer: if somebody wants to get rid of his old dragon slayer (the one standing on a dragon's head), let me know, I'm interested (even if the dragon's head is missing).

Those are gorgeous models, they look suitably enraged and frenzied and you've used a lovely colour palette!

I really like the soft orange of the hair, mine always ends up being quite garish in comparison.

The banner is superb and it adds some originaliy to the squad, don't remove it ! Slayers have a life before taking their oath so if this one already bore a banner he should still have it ! I'm pretty sure he could find nasty ways to use it to kill his foes
It would be such a pity not to use such a splendid model !

The whole army is breath taking and I can't wait to see a big board with everyone gathered.

They are really amazing the slayers , only thing is i think they could use some tattoos or maybe some blue hair stripes just to break det bright pattern.

Truly amazing work as always my friend! I am always loath to offer critique to someone SO FAR above my skill level...However... 8-) ...to my eye the colors of the hair and the flesh are a bit too similar to one another...this may be more a fact of the photography...but the two colors appear almost identical in some cases and therefore lack contrast. I like the guy with the white beard best just because it stands out better.

The obvious skill and talent employed in your blending boggles my mind...

Cheers,

Blue

You're right Blue, that was my main problem when I started the slayers: the flesh base I've chosen for the whole army is (surprise) GW Dwaf Flesh, which is quite orange in fact... compared with the Vallejo Orange Brown used on the hair, there is not much contrast indeed. And I was too lazy to change the skin tone with tattoos

So I get Blue's critique, but I have to disagree. Part of your painting style is a very "flat" look and the similar tones both compliment each other and help flatten out the look.

Hi there,
It's been a while since I've updated this topic. Just a couple of pictures showing my latest works:
- the updated slayer unit (standard bearer removed and skintones reworked)

- the 3rd and 4th batches of spearmen:

- and finally, the regiment completed:

Incidently, you have here the majority of what I've painted in ONE year. Sigh...

Jaeckel, don't sigh, you're just getting towards owning the best dwarf army of ALL TIMES step after step. Those models of yours are probably the most lucky little lead buggers that have ever been !

Oh and now I want a group shot, I mean, I DEMAND a group shot !

I agree!

I have just discovered this thread and think that this is THE BEST PAINTED Dwarf army that I have ever seen!
Amazing skill combined with a serious eye for colour.
The restricted palette really brings the best out of them.

(My Dwarves are going to stay in their box for a while, so as not to die of embarrassment...)
