Slannuary

Mostyn

Baron
So, it has not gone unnoticed by our beloved Emperor Mazdamundi that the Slannuary tributes seem a little light on the ground around here. He assumes you are all working hard so as to produce the most magnificent offerings come the end of this sacred month...

To prevent myself from being forcibly recruited into the slave legions I managed to finish off a lizardman ally that has been primed for about 10 years. Technically it's a Runequest dragonnewt but is about as Slannuary as you can get without actually being Slann. He's even sporting some Aztec weaponry. (I think it's a Klanth?)

And to celebrate the season I present the complete review of my Slann army. Its mainly castraded and lobotomised middle aged men in their underwear. The light is definitely fading on the empire although I feel there's a joke about wargaming conventions in there too...

And with that, in the nicest possible way, I hope not to bump into any of you in the Slave pens in the near future!

Lovely work, the expression on that second slave's face is great. Also Slannuary is a great idea, a month for all things reptilian. You've reminded me I was thinking we might try to do a "March Madness" this year as a stable outlet for those "what the" weird models that have been sat in the lead pile too long. Better get on with a badge (offerings to the temple welcome) and banner then for Slannuary, or at least some placeholders!

nice work.
any plans to pick up some tenoch to complement them?
They are great figures, however, despite the pathetic nature of my 'army' I actually have a reasonable amount of actual Slann. So I probably ought to paint those first....

Slannuary you say? Sounds like a good excuse to get this chap painted up!
Yes! Space frogs for the win. Mazdamundi will approve.

Thanks! I'm all for random model painting and monthly challenges. I find I struggle with motivation so just painting something random every now and then really helps.

^I know I've seen him floating around before, but I forget where. Any chance that's still in production? Brilliant miniature well painted!

You've done a great job on a lovely figure. I too immediately thought of clash of the titans when seeing a mechanical parrot. Brings back some great memories of lazy saturdays in front of the TV.

I caught one of his talks at the Watershed in Bristol around 2005. He had one of the skeleton warriors, medusa, the cyclops and the hydra with him. He was promoting his book, so didn't give away a lot but had some fascinating stories.

It was the event exclusive miniature for last year’s Lead and Steel. There may still be some available @Mat Lindsay?
Unfortunately I've given away the last of them that I had left over from last year.

But the sculptor has decided to make them available for purchase through Ramshackle Games:

So if you're willing to pony up the dough, you can get your hands on one.

So one more done and that's probably me out for Slann-uary. A second Dragonnewt, sorry, lizard man. This one has an axe so he has not embraced Slann-uary like the first one. But on the bright side he has a beak so I could just wait a few days and post him as my submission for Febru-airy because as far as I'm concerned he's flying stuff adjacent...

I may have just made up Febru-airy so apologies if it's already claimed...
