Given that both Orlygg and now Warlord Paul have posted thoughtful stuff reflecting on what this might mean from an oldhammer perspective, it clearly is relevant.
Paul's post can be found here, and includes a plea from that Warhammer should be allowed to die; "Won't it be a blessing if Warhammer goes though, really? A curse, lifted?"

OK. Please explain why an unsubstantiated rumour on GW ceasing to publish a game has any relevance to Oldhammer... because personally I can't see it has any relevance at all whatsoever. The game stopped being published in 1990 as far as I'm concerned

Okay. You don't see how it's relevant - in spite of various extended reflections from people who DO think it's relevant. We get it. I'm sure there are other threads that might attract your attention. Please stop being a dick about it. If you think that the game stopped being published in 1990, well that's very sweet, but I only started playing after that so your convenient fiction doesn't really work for me.
Once I have a bit of time later tonight I'll write my own thoughts - not about GW's business per se, but about how Warhammer becoming an "oop" product might give the game the freedom really deserves.

People write all kinds of odd things on their blogs... I once claimed to be painting miniatures. I know for a fact that not to be true. I agree with Zhu's point, what happens to WHFB is about as relevant as "What do you think of the latest Vampire Counts army book?". Unless GW did a 180 and started publishing a game to facilitate people having fun with their own miniatures regardless of make, I'm not interested and I don't think it's relevant to "oldhammer". HOWEVER, I still think those who are interested should get to discuss it as much as they want to, without being interrupted by off-topic goatitude. That's just disruptive. Zhu, you dissident, you. =D

Well I think It's relevant and it looks like many others do as well.
In the end It's simple really if people don't like what others post just Block them and you don't have to read there roundabout dribble, I have one person blocked on this forum (And on FB too) so i don't have to read there bitching (I bet you all know who I'm referring too).

Was told it by a member of GW store staff actually. But further research reveals it's just the bases, paint, 'hobby materials' and vast majority of Forgeworld stuff. Not that that excuses them, and if the miniatures are made in the UK

We should all aspire to be less sensitive about what's irrelevant/tangential/highly relevant. Or too definitional about "Oldhammer." Consider that some may simply enjoy playing contemporary editions with old school models. Our playing contemporary models and rules but with an old school emphasis on narrative instead of winning. I'll not suggest that those folks are "oldhammering it wrong", even though it may be different from what I do.
On topic, I find it difficult to believe that a profitable business unit and property would simply be jettisoned (or at least of sufficient size - compare to Specialist Games). But I can envision neglect as more resources are directed to more profitable units.
