Oldhammer Ahoy

Sorry to have started that up again... just thought it was a fun in-joke. Mine didn't arrive either. Neither did the two replacement sets that supposedly headed my way too. :)

Anyhow... on with the voyaging!

My story was the same, exactly - two replacement sets promised. But nothing. For ages (so long, in fact, I can't work it out without consulting ancient e-mails), but then Ta Da! They appeared. 'Tis a strange world. Another guy I know finally got his around the same time.

Hi Harry, excellent idea for a fun game. I would love to have a go at this, so I am going to pick up the Revell Ghost Pirate ship and some of the Black Scorpion Undead Pirates.

I may do a little conversion work to the ship which will necessitate repainting so don't anybody be disappointed because it doesn't glow in the dark!

If I may make a suggestion, at some point could you announce somewhere (or direct me to it if it's already up) which day(s) this will be running and who is playing on which day please? I would like to 'sign up' for a specific game on each of the days next year and it would help enormously to know which is the best day to dedicate to Warhammer Ahoy. Based on this year's experience I've decided this is the way to go.

For those hankering after Goblin Pirates I can a) confirm that Bruno is easy to contact on FB (and responds quickly) and b) Black Scorpion do some lovely fantasy pirates, Goblins included.

Don't buy the Undead pirates though!

So I won't be the only one with undead pirates.
I just scrolled through the WD zombie pirates list and remembered how bad it was.
So maybe I will customize it slightly for the event.
I plan to use the playmobil ghostship as conversion basis.

That diorama is terrifying - not sure I'd want to get close for fear of being pulled in!

I've got my Goblin crew sorted but may give tracking the pirates down another go...

@Niibl No, you're not alone! I think Harry mentioned having the kit for an Undead ship too, in his original post. I have no idea what the rules are or where to get them (pause for penny to drop...) but whatever they say I will just use my bods as wysiwyg, so regular skeletons with a mix of h2h weapons and blackpowder weapons which should make them interesting to all parties. :)

Does that mean I might find interested parties on here. Never thought to think to put this on an Oldhammer thread!

And yes one glows!

I would suggest several tables, with each one leading to another, so that ships and boats can go from one table to the next. If they dare.

Not a bad idea at all. Has anyone got any idea how we are representing the tables by the way? Blue cloth?

Hope you make it to BOYL 15 Padre!

My club has a number of blue-painted boards that I should be able to borrow. There are 9 2x4 base boards that we could add suitable scenery to. That would give us a 12x6 table on one of Foundry's large tables.

Although judging by some of the ideas on here, we may need something bigger!

Whilst their biggest tables would be big enough for small game with a few ships .... The more I read this thread and see the number of boats involved I think the only solution may be to buy a large piece of blue plastic pond liner / damp proof course (heavy duty enough to be walked on and not rip or move about) and play on the floor.

@ Moodygit
Great collection of boats.
Have you played any games with them yet or have you got them to warhammer up a bit as a project?

Lovin' everybodys boats ... and the enthusiasm.
I will get some pictures of mine and post them up soon.

The picture was taken as a ' anyone one to take them off my hands, would suit someone with OCD and who likes 3D puzzles'. This thread has made me want to have a go at one of them but my missus would love it if I could remove them. Many years of buying for Kids as they loved the dragons.

You are worried about the crunch of foot meets ship perhaps?

Or is bending to the floor an impediment you worry about for either yourself or others?
