Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Here is one more crew member:
He let me down in the speed painting challenge but what can you expect from a goblin pirate?
He just loves big guns! He actually needs the kickback from those guns to lift them up from the ground and after that he will still have trouble hitting a barn door.
But large ammo drums, a high rate of fire and fanatical enthusiasm will help to compensate his bad ballistic skill.
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
@theresponsibleone - I'd say don't worry about the shade of your spot color. We can't expect a notorious band of vicious space pirates to all source *exactly* matching turquoise accoutrements, right?
@Niibl - Good lord, that little guy isn't to be outgunned, is he? A few days carrying those shooters around and he's going to need some over-muscled Ork arms!
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Spot on fellas! Love the two new additions. As Matt says, the turquoise is great on the Boatswain - variation is part and parcel of the game here - we're just looking for a moderate visual connection rather than uniformity.
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Here's the finished pirate - Boatswain Rickard, first watch and breaching specialist in boarding actions. Despite such a hazardous position, he's survived many such actions, although he is now more machine than man. His antiquated powered armour, cobbled together from armoured environment suits and stolen scraps of combat armour means it's hard to tell where man ends and machine begins...
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Agreed, he looks fab really, excellent weathering and good overall look, I'll be happy to have him and his companions (this year's or me, I can feel it)
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Heres my entry,
Knox Jones, ladies man and self styled modern day robin hood, takes from the rich and gives to the poor (assuming the poor are beautiful women)
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Ooh yeah! Bring on the orange armour! I love this sculpt and your flashy painting of him is perfect
I spent last night in a hotel room putting a few splashes of paint on my contribution. You'll have to wait a couple of days before I can take a proper shot, but in the meantime here's a phone photo, complete with cool kid editing
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Great developments in the last few days. I think we all need to take the foot off the gas and call a beer break before the forward progress gets too far out of hand.
theresponsibleone - looks good, those colors came out great. He's clearly the meanest mother coming through the breach when the boarding starts.
firebreather - Yes! The orange armor! Yes! Liking the stripes, too.
Axiom - What Asslessman said. Hotel painting shows some serious dedication to your craft. Looking forward to seeing some better pics of that guy.
I like seeing the names and background info on these characters. It brings a nice flavor to the crew. Good job all!
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
The hotel room is a great place to paint - I'd only be wasting time watching crap tv...and I have no distractions!
I present to you Dav-E Djons, a starsailor with a lifetime of inter-planetary travel under his belt. Originally drafted into the Imperial fleet as a ammunition monkey at the tender age of 4, Dav-E has seen it all - mega battles between the stars; ship-mates being wrenched into the void; the stunning jade coronae at the Cthellian Rim and planets breaking asunder. After the Imperial Navy had ripped his prime from him, Dav-E found himself set adrift, limbs broken and twisted and no place to call home. Joining the crew of a privateer was the only option open...and he has found comradery and respect among his otherwise morally suspect ship-mates. To say Dav-E is satisfied with his lot is wrong however - decades ago, while still a young man, he heard tales of a vast hoard of ancient Slanni jewels, tumbling through the vacuum of space in a sealed adamantine and obsidian casket. Dav-E claims that one day he will find the casket and obtain immeasurable wealth, as well as regaining his youth. The rest of the crew, indulge Dav-E in his fantasies, but behind his bent back, they laugh about Dav-E Djons and his 'locker'.
Here's the crew as things stand. I suspect more will be joining these 3 in very short order
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
There we go, much better pics. He looks like a winner, Axiom. Excellent use of green stuff under that paint. And a pun name + built in joke? Very Rogue Trader.
Re: Oldhamer Legacy Crew 2015 ("Arrr!" - Sign Up and Progre
Finally decided upon a donor mini, it's not an ork, but I just couldn't help it! I'm sick to death of batch painting orks, the mere thought of dippping my paint brush into another pot of goblin green has me breaking out in hive's
I spotted this guy a few days ago in my "to get off my arse & paint one day" pile. My cranium immediately started to pulsate with the manifold convertibility potential!
So, here he be;
I'll add some weapons, sci-fi bits & bobs etc etc. Hopefully by the end of the process he will have been pimped to RT perfection
