Okay, that short break turned out to be much longer than planned. I never had as much time as during the pandemic/lock downs, but somehow my miniature output was as low as never before.
Anyways, time to finish the Oldworlder Ally Contingent.
The reinforcement of Border Horse Nadir is with me for over a year now, time to start painting them.
While starting to prepare the miniatures, I noticed I do not have enough metal bases left. Trying to shop with Product for Wargamers shows another unpleasant effect of Brexit: The shipping rate is about three times what I paid pre-Brexit, and then I will have to pay customs and import sales tax - so approximately the value of the goods again in charges.
Currently I am looking for a local source, but I am not aware of any Wargaming Shop selling metal bases in the EU. I asked with local metal workshops, but the do stuff like railing, gates, etc. and not such small stuff.
Does anyone of you know of a supplier of metal bases in the EU?

This is all the miniatures unpacked.
After six evenings all the models had their flash removed.
The spears had cast shafts, which can easily be bent. To prevent future accidents while using the miniatures in a game, I replaced the shafts with brass rod. In most cases I managed to insert it centered in the tips...
To hide the duplicate models, I did some weapon changes by using some Warhammer Empire weapons, and swapping others between the Mirliton models.
I mounted the horses on the metal bases (the front row on temporary ones until I can restock the cavalry bases), and the riders on bent-into-shape paper clips.
After six evenings all the models had their flash removed.

Your miniatures are looking great! Did you try out Uni POSCA markers? They're nice for banners and they come in different sizes. They do tend to damage the surface of the paper if you go over couple of times when surface is still wet but they leave solid trace so there isn't really any need for that.
As for metal plates. Usually someone with laser cutting machine or CNC machine could cut you plates in those sizes. There was one other machine that got long blade for cutting plates of that thickness ( 1mm or 2mm ) but I forgot where I saw it. Usually is good to ask machine shop for automotive parts ( Shop that specialize in honing, grinding/milling engine heads, blocks,... ) as they always need "tools" for their machines or similar so they usually know someone with those precise cutters and fine engineering machines. Or you could go to the shop that sells metal sheets among other metal products and ask for shop that could cut your metal sheet.

Thank you for the hint. Bui Alternative Armies is also UK based to my knowledge, so that does not help with the postage and custom charges.

I primed all the miniatures with Valleja black primer through the airbrush.
I then airbrushed the horses in groups of 4 in 4 different greys. I then added white to the greys in 2-3 steps and finished with a white hightlight.
The greys I used were from the Vallejo range:
+ 72.749 Stonewallgrey
+ 71.274 Aggressor Gray
+ 71.114 Medium Gray
+ 71.259 Grauviolett RLM75

After I painted the colored spots (using Google picture search as reference), all the harness, saddle and saddle bags were painted in 70.871 Leather Brown,
All the brown was then washed with Secret Weapon Wash 002 Heavy Body Black. This formed the basis for all the other colors applied, everywhere he black washed brown was kept as the darkest shadow.
When adding the pigment spots as well as the leather, bag, etc. colors, I followed alternating patters of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines through the models; ever on the quest to get no duplciate color combinations.

Unfortunately slower than I would like to proceed. I wanted to finish the contingent this year, I doubt this will work out...
I started painting the riders by painting the eyes white, then the pupil black.
I used two different base coats for the skin.
These were then highlighted with different colors across the basecoats, giving variety in skin tones to the horde.
