Old Hob's hobgobs

Thank you gents. You're very kind. The shield on the right was supposed to be 'Rage', but came out 'slightly miffed Frankie Howard'. Lots of fun to paint, though, and a welcome break from all those tiny studs and spikes.

Very nice you can't go wrong with a painted Orc shield face. I loved painting mine for my little Orc project you, can really go to town with the facial expression and definitely adds to humour which is really important with any greenskin.

So... this happened.

Does this mean I'm resurrecting the hobgoblin project? Very possibly...

Thanks all.

they really went for the oriental look for the hobbos in that range, didn't they?
Aly Morrison's first hobgobs were the DL2 boxed set and were sculpted as opponents for his DL1 boxed set 'Samurai Oriental Heroes'. That Far East vibe continued into his first wave of pre-slotta C36 hobgobs. When it came to revamp the C36 range as slottas in 1985 the aesthetic shifted towards 'Steppe nomad' to fit with the evolving fluff for WFB/WFRP.

I've made a start on some shoot-and-scoot cav - the brand new old school hobgoblin wolf riders from Oakbound Studio. Here's the first one.

Painted one of his buddies last night. This wolfie is a bit more snarly. Looks like he would totally chew your slippers to shreds. I also redid the bow on the first hob, as I didn't like it all shiny.

One more from this set left to do and then I can get back to the C36 pile.

This one is properly WIP. The Hobyars need a standard bearer and this old DL2 hob needed a new pole arm. As my Green Stuff skills are pretty much nonexistent I thought maybe I should get some constructive criticism/advice now before slapping an undercoat on. My ego can handle being told to pull it apart and start again as long as the advice comes with some top tips on how to improve. Thanks.

Are you sure you want a banner rather than an icon like Throg’s mob? If so:
1) How about using thin fuse wire for the bindings on the cross piece?
2) Consider acting some texture to the banner pole. Wood grain effect is easiest.
3) Be sure to clean the mould lines off the skull & hair using a scraper or knife.

Got any plans for the top of the pole? The gilded skull of a notable former enemy seems like it would be both fitting and easy.
