way too dark but..
First up, the HeroQuest Hero set, painting based on the Mike McVey Protos. No good at the more mousey blonde hair so the Elf and Wizard have brighter hair. Trying to go a be more with my painting to get it better, the Elf has green trousers with red strips, which have a black edge. the Barbarian has spots on his loin cloth and the Wizard... ah, the wizard.. the flame effects were.. a pain and kinda okay.. the striping at the bottom of the cape, as well as the slight light blue to darker blue fade, and the stars and moons. All in all, I'm quite happy with them and better detail then I normally do so.. nice skill advancedment.
Here is Ulag, the Orc Warlord (and his son), which is a Battlemasters Orc on 25mm round base (I normally use 30mm lipped but as the original heroQuest one are basically 25mm, this works out fine Checkered trousers were a pain.. I'm never 100% happy with my checkering as there are noticable 'gaps' between the black corners.. but better then i have done in the past. Since the Battlemaster Shields are flat, I decided to try and sculpt an old style shield.. This is more of an goblin shield though.. Face has a tongue sticking out but hard to see in this image.. big fangs might have made it better but it's fine.
Next to him, is my Female Barbarian proxy. She is a bit shorter then the normal barbarian, which is fine, and the sword is pretty blunt, but that's fine. It's a Celtos female warrior from Brigade models these days. I liked it because the pose is very much the Barbarian's pose, so matched well. Her colours were kinda based on original Teela from Masters of the Universe (not the cartoon, the toy line) but more the prototype hand painted figure (so more detail) but to match the Barbarian, I put spots based on.. I think snow Leopard.
Third is my Dwarf Trollslayer. The figure is a resin I got from a company i can't remember, but they sell cheap random batchs of 'printer error' models. Which sounds like a good thing to me. If a figure printed wrong or does match there 'standards', sell them off cheap for conversion work or paint testing. Problem is, they are mostly 32-35mm scale so all are a bit on the tall side, but some nice stuff.. This dwarf seams a bit big BUT taking into account the leaping pose, he isn't much bigger then the HQ Dwarf, just a bit more bulky.. and the pose and style was clearly saying Trollslayer.
I've almost finished my Fire Mage, with a colour scheme which might confuse some. I have also been working on customising a figure for Sir Ragnar and hope to get that painted before my game on Thursday.
Oh and most of the figures (apart from the female Barbarian) have the whites of the eyes (red for the Goblin) but no pupils. I did put pupils for the female Barbarian but I'm never quite happy with them so.. just leaving the whites is fine with me (and no.. classical old statues weren't 'white eyes', which lead to things like the comic character 'The Phantom' having white eyes, and later other comic characters.. classical old statues were painted, and mostly weirdly (really.. look at the restored Roman ones.. they loved their bright colours) but most of the paints don't last.).
