These are fantastic. You've enthused me so much to get on with my Mordheim table, I actually went out and bought a load of HD Foam baseboards over the weekend!

Now to get on with the buildings! :)

Now that is a compliment.
Inspired to do your own, eh...?

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I made a start on the doors and windows a while ago:

They're basically copies of the ones printed on the original Warhammer buildings. I need to get the rest done, and then make a start on learning to cast in resin, before I can get any of the buildings done!

Most impressive!

I have become much more proficient with green stuff myself since I made the Brothel (about four years ago now....).
If I go back and add to my Mordheim buildings in future I dare say it will be utilised more fully.

Keep us posted on your progress, I want to steal any good ideas....

I shall try and post up pictures of another building or section of town tomorrow.

Re: Mordheim Scenery....The Docks 04/02

The Docks...

I will be adding more detail, like barrels, boxes etc when I go back to them in the future..
This will be used to hide the joins and any areas that look a bit ropey.

This one is the docking area for the 'Barrel-Sub'....pictures of that when I find them.

The ships need to have masts added. (Broken, maybe?)

Great doors and items !

I'd recommend SIligum moulds or Instant moulds for they take perfect rpints and are flexible enought to get the pieces out rapidly without damage (to eithe rthe piece or the cast).
I'm doing this for 40k scenery and I find doing large batches (meaning several moulds of the same item is easier as the balance in mixing the 2 parts is more forgiving for large quantities than for small batches. One thing that helps is to get something that vibrates on the table while you pour the resin to prevent bubbles forming in the recesses which will become the raised areas.

Re: Mordheim Buildings....The Docks 04/02

Those docks look brilliant, what's the construction of the wooden walkways?

Re: Mordheim Buildings....The Docks with Undead Raft 04/02

Thanks, chaps.

I did not build the walkways, they are resin pieces from Geboom at Shifting Lands...

http://www.shiftinglands.com/

I am pretty sure that the masters may well be balsa, and should not be too difficult to make.
I opted to buy them from Geboom as the ships are from him and I was buying them anyway, along with the grey painted pieces.
These proved too small for my intentions so I incorporated them into this set up which is carved from dense foam..

The water is paper napkin painted with watered down wood glue and manipulated to look like waves (I hope!).

This another creation using various barrel subs that Geboom sells.....

I think it is quite amusing, I hope you agree, and was made just for a laugh a few years ago.

It usually just sits in the Docks just as a scenry element.

It has seen action as something other than an interesting piece of scenery, however, as it took to its role as a submersible attack raft in the final game of our second Mordheim campaign, when it delivered reinforcements to Legionnaire Bert's Undead Pirates in a clash against the Nordland 2nd Expedition.

The crew are a couple of GW Zombies, but you all knew that.....

Re: Mordheim Buildings....The Undertaker's 05/02

I drooled over these on LAF and here I go again. Fantastic stuff. What colours do you use for timbers/wood in general?

Re: Mordheim Buildings....The Undertaker's 05/02

Wow, that's really stunning. You take all this to another level!

Re: Mordheim Buildings....The Undertaker's 05/02

Thanks, chaps.

I usually start with a dark brown and highlight with a lighter shade.
Then two shades of grey (not 50!), a dark and light.
I then use Army Painter shades over the top if I want them to look more brown (interiors mainly) and finish with a very dry Ivory drybrush on exterior wood.

Hope that helps.

Re: Mordheim Buildings....The Undertaker's 05/02
