Metal Nostalgia Force painted models

Got one of the Rogue Trader Pirates done as the second member of the Penal Legion squad. I kinda wish I had done the lines on the moustache tapering more towards the ends as in my head that's how I was going to do it but then for whatever reason I did it the way it's shown here and that's how it stayed.

Haha no it was quite a few tries getting a little brush in there and making it remotely work. It was some white, then some diluted paint in the darker skin tone (I tried the lighter and it didn't look right) and then a dot in the middle... it was a small area to just start over with a coat of white, so I just kept at it until it looked better. I don't have any other pics of him painted - maybe one from before he was painted? You can see it's just a recess:

Ah cool. It is a great job, I did think it was flat and you had painted it to look like a recess, still very very cool though.
Thanks for the reply.

Ugh, getting older can be tedious. After losing my depth perception due to issues in one eye (both really, but worse in one) I couldn't really see well enough to paint, but then after waiting a while for surgery I then had to wait for my eyes to recover before I could paint again... long story short it's still a bit of a struggle and using computers is also now a bit tedious for any length of time.

But here I am with a finished mini months later. Captain Dozier.

I'm going to have to catch up on forum posts as well because it's been a while...

That is pleasing.
Nice highlights and shading, neat stripes, nice eye piece effect.
The hot metal is very nice.

Cool stuff.

using computers is also now a bit tedious for any length of time.

Sorry to hear about the eyesight issues.
Whilst your stuff is nice to see, don't feel obliged to post here there and everywhere, or indeed at all.
Health of both kinds first!!

luckly my eyes aren't that bad yet ^_^ one is WAY weaker then the other and without my glasses, it's very tricky.. that said it can be a bit tricky on close up detail anyway, but nowhere near that bad yet.

And you can do WAY better detailed work when me anyway ^_^ My captain is still sitting half painted.. need to get on with him sometime..

anyway, great work ^_^

Sorry to hear about the health woes. Still that is one stunning marine. I love the subtle shading on the hazard stripes - just nudges them to that next level. The weathering on the exhaust ports on the jump pack is a lovely touch and as ever the rest is painted to perfection. Lovely stuff.

Thanks guys. My left eye has ended up recovering pretty well - though it is VERY weird being a bit longsighted now so magnifying headwear is an absolute must for me to be able to see a mini to paint it without getting an awful headache.

The right eye needs another surgery though which is going to mess with my mini painting again for a while once that happens... in the meanwhile, though, I have got one mini done to my satisfaction. Admittedly it's not nearly so many as I'd like but I'm trying not to feel rushed at getting back into it.

Anyhow. Jes Goodwin's 1988 Exo Terminator:

More pics here including a comparison with the just-released modern Terminator inspired by the older model. Oh, and a pic of the Pete Knifton artwork which inspired the paint scheme.
