Well this was a bit of a surprise in the GW Old World announcement: Old World Almanack – The Orc and Goblin Tribes

Made to Order​

On top of all that, there’ll be a hand-curated selection of Made to Order Orcs and Trolls for the true connoisseurs, including none other than the fabled Marauder Giant – who, like all the others in this tranche, is returning in metal.

Alongside him, there’s the Orc Shaman on War Wyvern from 1993, two sets of classic Stone Trolls, the classic River Trolls, and the Black Orc Big Boss with Axe and Shield.

Alas not the classic Wyvern of course, but I that era of Trolls were still nice sculpts and of course who doesn't want a Marauder Giant (although I do have the Crooked Dice one). I wonder if it will cost more than the model already does on the 2nd hand market? I wonder what it will do to the 2nd hand market given it's being cast in metal.
 
Seeing the reviews of the game GW don't appear to the investing a great deal of time and effort on new models for the launch of the old world, more like dipping their toe in the water to see if the market will support the game. So I see this as a great opportunity to pick up some classic models.
Knowing GW's pricing the second hand market should be fine.

Yeah, I think it’s safe to say none of these made to order minis are going to be cheap.
Quick check on ebay showed that Marauder giant has generally sold for about 120£, I’d be genuinely surprised if GW charged less than 100£ for it.
As a side note, Marauder giant sword bit alone had incomprehensibly sold for 22£ on ebay! That’s the only thing I’m missing from my giant to make it complete, box and all.

Luckily(?) for me there’s not much in these made to order lists I’d be interested in. Had they made Marauder trolls available, those I couldn’t have resisted. Still, I’m glad GW is giving those who want to get these minis a chance to buy them.
 
If they did a decent price, there might be a couple of things I would be interested in out of that lot but.. I really don't think they will. I've seen the price for a single plastic mini at times so Do I think citadel FINALLY reissuing some classic minis would have a decent price, specially if they are doing them made to order (which in theory, can be cheaper but.. unlikely)…. don't think so. Citadel aren't the worse for price but they sure aren't anywhere near the best..
 
oh.. just checking to see if there is any update on the 'reissues' but.. I see one bit I'm not keen on.. alot have been 'remastered' to fit with the more modern style.... or to quote:

they do say about how some need work cause the original greens are damaged or don't exist, which is fair enough but.. with some of the 'original' new figures for this old world line they are ment to be part of, and with alot of the 8Ed reissues.. it might be as nice as we hope.. Though most info I can find is from places looking down on old models
 
I don't think it will be a style change, 'remastering' in this sense just means they're going to take a new master cast, rework it to get the fit better then use that to produce the production moulds.
 
yeah but... hopefully just that (if they do a decent price).. some people were saying about the Giant selling for £1,000+ a couple of years back.. I guess that would be boxed cause now you can get one loose for £200.

though with some of the range it looks like they are doing.. some are okay some are clearly much later style.. they can't seam to make up there minds either.. "Old world will allow all the races.. Oh but we are only going to do some, most of the races you can use but will get no support and releases and you can't use in official play".. not that I bother with 'official' stuff.. just factions you can use but not offically and don't get any support (so no re-issue of figures etc) will be Lizardmen (slann?) Dark Elves, Skaven, Ogre Kingdoms (huh? never heard of them as an army), Vampire Counts (I kinda got out before the cut up the undead into factions like this), Daemons of Chaos (a faction? the picture shows a bloodletter.. they removing Most of Chaos?!?) and Chaos Dwarfs.. The factions which are gonna get releases and are the main ones are : Bretonnia, Empire, Dwarf, High Elves, Wood Elves, Tomb Kings, Warriors of Chaos (so... how badly did they cut up chaos?), Beastmen (see prevous comment) and Orc/Goblins.. and they have shown Cathay and Kislev so it's expected they were be part of the Empire. Looks like it's meant to be just 8ed stuff.. so.. Old world is basically update of 8ed. no races dropped before that included, and most figures are around the style and stuff..
 
To be expected. It's basically just taking 9th Age and making it GW again. A splash of old stuff for the sake of drawing in the nostalgic but mostly the kits they still have injection moulds for and then new stuff depending on how it takes off.
 
It wouldn't surprise me if they improve some of the joins. I have a 3rd ed Chimera I can't figure out how to attach the tail to without pinning.

Sometimes you were just "making your own green stuff' with the sheer amount of epoxy needed.

If only it were DRAG6, alas :( However I've always regretted not getting the river trolls and whilst as I mentioned I don't need the giant I suspect I might fail my Willpower test.
 
mm.. that really isn't a bad price..

well.. that's a giant and a wyvern ordered.. I'm debating if I can justify the trolls
 
I wonder if someone sensible thought they would sell twice as many at that price and therefore make considerably more money. I honestly was expecting it to be much more in the £100 ballpark and for it to be a really should I, should I not hand wringer, probably deciding not. However at £50 I didn't really think twice and I'm afraid I ordered one for the lead pile. I'll be interested to see what it does to the second hand prices (I see a decent number of Rogue Trader reprints now on ebay), I also wonder how many "new" ones will be casually sold as "old", although I suppose GW may have tweaked the molds to put some differences/labels in when they remastered them?
 
in the action figure market, you should always either remove or update the copyright info on reissues and i know Citadel sometimes did this but I don't even know if these have them (being non-slotta and all)
 
About half what I was expecting, if I didn't have one I'd be ordering one. Tempted by the wyvern too. Trolls though, got me ordering from GW for the first time in 20 years! Six stone trolls neatly grouped into three I have and three I haven't. Well, have now!
 
I'm still debating the trolls.. I don't really have any real need for them (though I don't have any Trolls for HeroQuest).. can't say I have too much need for the Wyvern or Giant but they are models I would have wanted to get either way ^_^; so with GW doing a decent price for once.. wow.. I think the last new thing I got from GW was... mm.. before the local shop closed... mid 90s? (that said I have picked up a couple of part works issue 1s cause one had paint for a good price, and the other had some bits also for a good price so worth it for that but not the full price.. not worth that).

It would be interesting to compare the new models to the originals.. but.. If I can find it, might have my fathers Wyvern in the loft, but don't have the giant.. Could compare to pictures.
