Manic's Slow Skaven Project

^_^ I use white cotton (I kinda could do with a finer grade but no real need) and use a inkjet printer cause I'm not fantastic at doing the banners by hand. Also allows for a bit more detail really. This one I also took a lighter to to give it a bit of a older slightly burnt look. because it was ^_^ Oh and I normally then paint the back of the banner too.

If you wonder, there is some stuff I can't remember the name of right this moment which is basically like a plastic grease proof paper which you iron the cotton to, and it sticks well enough to go through a printer, then you just cut and peel. I picked up the idea some time back from someone that used it for custom doll clothes when they want a certain pattern on them.

yeah. It also depends on the printer settings. You want to tell it to over print or whatever that is to print with more ink. I didn't get it quite right on this, and the camera also washed it out a little bit ^_^

Well, atleast it's been a time of finishing off some bits. The other day, I got hold of three new figures I've been after (for one thing, I'm only 2 figures short of the original 19 now, and a further 5 short before I got all including the September 1987 21). a couple were... more then I would have liked, but I got some deals so that weren't as bad as some of the stupid prices going around ¬_¬

Anyway, I have been able to finish off my First Skaven Slave unit! this one is a mixtured race regiment, as the rules just say that Skaven mostly have other skaven as slaves, taken from lesser clans. But the word there is 'mostly'.

Out of this unit of 30 Slaves, 19 are Skaven. I believe. There are also:
3 Skaven Skeletons
3 Humans (with one being an Amazon)
1 Human Skeleton
1 Orc
1 Goblin
1 Halfling
1 pair of Snotlings

They all have double handed weapons (Spears, staff, pitchforks etc)

more images in a couple of weeks on my blog ^_^;

Well.. would look better with a tray meant to only 20 figures on 20mm bases but I'm not sure I have one right now ^_^; nor a convert to put in there but doesn't matter as I don't store them on the trays due to lack of space but..

Finally got this unit of Stormvermin done. All 20 with spear/Halbert/whatever weapons. I was a bit surprised the other day when I found out I just finished number 20 cause I thought he was number 19 and while there is still a figure I'm after (and the one I did as number 20 has a ... odd one out look), This unit is done.

some more images and info on my blog in a couple of weeks. Might try a better group shot too.

cloth, cotton ^_^ I could probably try to find stuff with a smaller grain but using a white cotton to print on allows me to do more detailed banners that I just fail at by hand. I've even tried to just do the old 'paint over the drawing' ones and I'm never happy with my Banners, so just printing onto the fabric is soo much better. a bit of paint to tough up (like the back) and I'm happy enough with them.
