Fimm's painted models

"Basic kinda way"?! No más... the knife is stuck deep enough, no need to twist it more.
Seriously, ain't nothing basic about them. Excellent stuff.

Those warriors are great! I have the first one, with the crested helmet, but your paintjob makes mine look like I used a house decorator's brush!

I don't do spacey things very often, but sometimes I do.

These guys look awesome! I love the beastmen riding the Dinos

you could use just black card or something on the edges to hide the wires if you don't want to run them round the edges, or some 'sky' same as the backing.

Well, I don't really have the room for that... They're above my Goblinoids Combat Cards display, which is the one I am REALLY proud of. The Warriors deck is ok but they're not the greatest paint jobs the Citadel team ever produced.

It's more that they need to flex. The lights are on the door, not on the undersides of the shelves, so the wires need to stretch as the door opens and fold as it closes. I designed it for a slimmer cable than it ended up getting which is a bit annoying.

Ah. Should have asked and I would see about a link up (basically when the door shuts, the circuit clips together. Can be done a few ways to allow you but no problem. also, if it's on a hinge, should have got the wires going on the hinge side ^_^

Love the display, brilliant idea - looks amazing. Sword looks very neat, handle carving is great. You can never have too many swords!

Okay, even better after Wednesday so I know you made it yourself ^_^
problem with too many swords you can buy is they go for 'display' pieces.. I prefer more practical and think they look better for it and this is a practical looking thing ^_^

That's what the smith said. he showed us a knife that had been polished out all across the blade and it looked lovely, but then he showed us one with the hammer marks in tact and just the edge polished and it looked so much more real, seeing the tooling is important. I guess that's how I feel about miniatures too. If something is a bit 'wonky' or 'organic' and you can see the odd fingerprint it reads as the work of someone's hands. A smooth, pristine, symmetrical model has more of an artificial feel.

Indeed, on a sort of related note, Tod Cutler of the weaponsmith fame says he can't sell things that have obvious imperfections despite looking like real historical weapons as people expect everything to be spot on within a fraction of a millimetre, despite actual proper weapons being wonky AF.

And as you say the same with handsculpts vs digital designs.
Digital sculpts have perfectly symmetrical blades, armour parts are same from model to model, feathers are the same, clothes are the same, faces are bland, everything is nice and square or straight or a perfect curve.
It is all perfect, and this lack of imperfection is what makes them far from perfect for me.

Give me something with identity, hand made and a bit wonky here and there.
Just like real life.
