Nice, the popping pustules are particularly vibrant! I like the change of colour on the palms, makes them even more interesting

Great looking bunch of trolls. Favourite for me is last picture and troll picking his teeth with a bone. To me that is the archetypal troll and the skulls immediately made me think of Sandy from Monkey Magic !!!

Always makes me happy to see some dwarf cavalry. Nicely painted and striped lances look especially good.

Dwarfs on boars. A natural pairing.
Is it because of their shared temper, appearance, smell or all of those? ;)
Seriously though, I think dwarfs riding boars or rams make much more sense than ponies.

Looking really good. In 3rd ed there were even 'good' centaurs, so a plausible unit (if one pays attention to that), starting in 4th there were only Chaos Centaurs AFAIK. Always good to have some outside the box units to spice things up.

Always enjoy seeing John Pickford dwarfs painted up especially when they are painted so well. Excuse my ignorance but where are the armoured centaurs from ?

They're Ral Partha, now available from Ral Partha Legacy. Slender figures (as all RP) but the armour style ties them in nicely.

Lovely work on the Fimir. I seem to remember reading years ago that when GW came up with them there was some sort of cock up between the size of them and the rules for them ? any truth in that ? Also where are the models from?

I think that is to do with the 3rd edition rules saying the normal warriors go on 25mm x 25mm bases but they were sold with 40mm bases?

Plus in Warhammer armies the lists state 40mm bases for normal warriors despite the above mentioned rules saying 25mm bases.

right.. from what I know from a couple of places.. Jes Goodwin sculpts were made for 25mm Nick Bibby's where on 40mm which is pretty bloody rare for standard troops.. Graeme Davis did say about fixing there stats so they could work for 40mm but was told 'better never to mention them again'.

They were created and written for being 25mm figures. but Graeme Davis claims that when Nick Bibby took over sculpting them, he made them Ogre sized compared to Orc sized.

Now, the idea that it was just a misunderstanding doesn't 100% stand up.. I mean, Okay, he mis-understood something, and sculpted them big.. Then citadel said 'Oh well, we love this so lets just do the final models, cast them up and release them'.. but not adjust the rules cause the race failed.. which is partly cause they made them such a mess with giving them way too big a base, giving them alot of weaknesses and made the figures pretty pricey.. better off with some ogres for that price. That doesn't make alot of sense.. There would have to have been a bloody good reason for going ahead to production for the figures.. Nick Bibby is still around so maybe he could answer some questions but that's IF he remembers back that far ^_^

Having fairly recently acquired the Nick Bibby Fimm (rather than the Nobles and Fianna Fimm) I now disbelieve there was a mistake with regards to sizing. As you can see in the photos the regular Fimm are much smaller than the Nobles, tails aside they fit quite well on a 25mm base. Not so very different to the Jes Goodwin sculpt in body size. The tails, however, are what really cause the problems ranking up. I suspect a combination of that and the fact that they're pretty tough cookies (it was hoped they would be for Warhammer what Broo were to Runequest) caused them to be elevated to 40mm bases when Warhammer Armies came out. Initially Shearls and Fimm were on 25s with characters on 40mms.

I think actually it's more likely the other way around. They're pretty powerful troops for 25mm bases. Ok, not Chaos Warrior level but almost Ogre stats, all with multiple attacks and their mystic mist. It seems more likely to me that the 40mm bases were a way of balancing an OP troop type.
