Building a Daemonic Legion of Slaanesh

(struggled to find a comparison of Keeper of Secrets).

They must be great fun as sculptures for painting and fit the size of the RoC cover, but they really are borderline ridiculously big as models for a wargame? 🤔

i have finished a second unit of Legionnaires. This time I used beastmen as the models, although this is irrelevant to the unit’s stat line. These models all were picked because I suspect they were all made from the same base ‘dolly’. Some relatively minor conversions were made as well.

A few more daemonettes for the cause. These are modern sculpts. The two ‘normal daemonettes’ are from Satyr Art Studio, and the one wearing chaos armor is from Hasslefree. My intent with her is to make a daemonette model who received the old chaos lord mutation chaos attribute. For those who don’t remember this gave the fortunate model stat increases, chaos armor, and a daemon weapon, making the mutant an instant ‘hero’ model. It was a fairly simple conversion to give her a crab claw on one arm, and a proper razor tipped tail from an old whip. The pink on her armor is the (quite old) “titillating pink” paint pot from the old GW paint line. There isn’t much of it left…

As far as their role in the legion goes, these daemonettes will likely be used individually to ‘handle’ packs of chaos spawn.

Sorry if a little off topic, but how does Satyr Studios manage to get away with such on the nose homages to classic designs yet there are 3d designers and YouTube channels that get infringement notices when releasing similar?

Drew worked for GW for a while, so I can only assume his contacts don't want to pursue him. I don't know if he's actually got Tony Ackland's permission to copy the art so closely, but if so that may give it some security. Plus short runs, flying under the radar, being in the US etc.

how some other bigger companies get away with it when, they might be nice people with nice work, but they are often stuff that DOES have official licenses, or wouldn't be that much follow, I don't know ¬_¬

This Liche will be the Undead Contingent commander. She was a Crooked Dice sculpt that I did a simple conversion to her staff replacing a skull motif top with a printed Slaaneshi icon. I dug the emaciated look she has, and painted her dress red to match her mindless minions.

Effective conversion. Nice model and love the colours you've chosen, looks really good. Might have to pop that down on the wish-list for next time I get stuff from Crooked Dice.
