Oh my ! Gladdishet looks very disturbing, the mannikin coming from the face is something !
very good model and congrats for a splendid entry !

Thanks, guys.

He was quite a bit of fun to put together.

The blood splatters were a thought of extending the "manic fighter" trait, along with the extensive weaponry.

Good ole toothbrush and red wash.

The manakin looks really good, and the bloodsplatter works well to show the manic fighter, although I have to admit I've never been a fan of the clear pegs, although I guess that's the obvious way to show him levitating apart from that he looks very cool though

Nice work Bluey. The pegs are a bit ... yea .. but it works. So I'ma shoosh ^_^
I gotta commend your guts to paint a model that well and then blood-splatter it.

Looks great and well done

The great dilemma - I never really like the clear pegs either, but - I really did not like the wire painted black that stuck to the model - NOPE - that was so much worse. Alternatives... alternatives...

Ideally, I would love some sort of magnetic powered lev thing - but alas, I might have to stick with the least offensive way of elevating a model with what I have available.

You know - I could just Photoshop the peg out completely, but that's what Plaiecivile prolly wants to do when the actual good photos get posted to him.

I'm gonna tidy the model up a little more - especially round the beard and the metal. I am also in the process of coming up with a small back story for him too.

The feedback is GOOD peoples!

Thanks and I shall continue!

You know I didn't even notice the clear peg. It must have been filtered out by my brain. Sorry to sound like Captain Hindsight but...looking at the model again, if you really wanted a way to disguise the support you could use the ball and chain hanging from his waist to be the support - ideally by using a wire reinforced version. You could have the ball and chain attached to his ankle as if it tethers him to the ground in some functional fashion, so that if it were to get broken he would float away up into the sky. Anyway modifying him at this stage would surely be OCD madness. :)

The flail was far too brittle, my friend. It would never support the weight. Plus, I always saw those "grass hiders" and whatnot to not give a suitable illusion of absence of gravity.

I always loved the way that the Japanese used to do their noodles on chopsticks in the window (and still do) with resin and the like, seemingly defying gravity, but it just doesn't make it on the 28mm scale somehow.

Clear peg it is, my fellows.

I'm sure the final edit will be softer.

The only operations I will do on the pictures will be to resize, crop, and probably play with the contrast to get balanced pages... I think the peg is just fine! It is part of the solution you came up with to get the most accurate representation of this champion. Anyway that makes you officialy the first contributor to this project. I will come up with a test page presenting your entry before the end of July so that I can get some feedback on the format. Anyway keep up the good work!

On a less serious note, it might be caused by my french pronunciation but I definitly read Gladdishiet "Glad he shits", wich makes it an awesome Nurgle name if you ask me!

You would be correct in the translation of Bad Norwegian merged with Irish.

I'll do some final touch ups and get some better photos and the back-story for you over the weekend.

Just a quick update, do not worry, the project is still on track even if I am less active.
I do not know about your region of the world, but here in Quebec the summer is great and I enjoy each minute of it, since in 2 months I will be freezing my ass again for another 8 months!
Overall, that means less painting and more BBQ 8-)

Yet, here is my sculpt for Tzeentch_095 --- Beastman --- Tentacles - all arms, rotting flesh, crossbreed with giant spider, manic fighter, evil eye, FP4
I might rework the tentacles... but this is some of the most extensive sculpting I have ever done. I have biology notions, but I add muscles and skin instinctively, trying to go with what "feels right".

So here it is, the first draft of the first ever page from the Bestiary of the Exalted and Unfortunate!
It is only a printscreen from a PDF but you get the picture, I think of releasing 2 versions, one viewable (with textures) and one printable (white background).
The text is quite small (10), I will bring it up to 11 and enlarge the rows, I will shift the pages from left to right to be able to assemble the pages as a book.

Thanks to Bluey for providing so much material from your blog! I know, I had to cut down the story for space concerns and rephrase a bit, but I tried very hard to keep the crucial moments in your own words.

That brings me a new concern: integrity of the material I will be playing with. I will try to get approvals from the contributors, in case my alterations would bring the text to far from the original idea.

The layout looks sweet Plaiecivile. I like the spiderbeastman you made, I think it is fine with the short torso that is wrapping underneath the spidery parts myself, don't think it is too short at all.

Love the conversion, the pose is suitably imposing and illustrates the FP4 well. Spider legs always make a model look creepy.

That page is splendid Plaiecivile ! As soon as we see the Dusk of BOYL, I'll get on my entry seriously. i've been lookng at possible donors and may have find good opportunities. If you make such a page for every entry, it will truly be a spectacular book !

Yep, when we get the BOYL painting rush out of the way we can start to put our full weight behind contributing to this project - although I suspect that most of us will firstly need a couple of weeks break from the grinding paint-athon that is not necessarily evident from the forum but is surely currently going on on a large scale.

I think it is very evident on the forum. Sometimes silence speaks volumes...

That spider DW "conversion" is quite superb...what a scary mo fo! 8-)

I really like the story and conversion explanation page to...very well thought out and written. this is a really fun project to watch unfold...perhaps this winter I can find the time to participate and truly test my conversion skills.

Keep it up lads!
