Axiom's Miscellaneous Painted Stuff

Cool. The pieces fit in perfectly with that body and the paintjob is great, what a warband you have there!

Thanks Suber :)

I had a few spare hours earlier, so used it productively to paint up one of the old Citadel Space Pirates. This guy is specifically in pink because he's part of a pleasure cult - the Cult of the Silken Veil. Why else does he have such a weird bloated neck?!

I had a busy weekend attending the Bring Out Your Lead Event at Foundry, and it was back down to earth with a thump at the start of the week.

Full report of the event over at my blog.

In addition to playing lots of games, I also entered the painting competition, and came away winning the open category, with some recent models (which you've probably seen before) on a nice new display base:

Finally, I was away with work at the start of the week, so made use of a quiet hotel room to paint up a new addition to my Inquisimunda Ordo Malleus retinue. He's the humourless, multi-laser toting Space-Quaker, Advard Munk:

Advard%2B1.JPG

Advard is made from a Rogue Trader Eldar Harlequin, with a new head (Marauder Empire champion) and gun (Epic Warhound titan). I think he's probably pretty deadly ;)

As ever, more pictures and a summary of the display base build over at the blog.

Advard Munk in particular is quite impressive. I might not have noticed he was a Harlequin if you hadn't point it out and I think I may have that fellow in my cue. Splendid job.

Good show of taste and awesome execution, or awesome show of taste and good execution. Or both... I really like this style.
One thing I really love in the rogue trader era miniatures is the lack of heroic posing and oversized weapons. You continue that tradition most excellently in (most of)your conversions.

The colorful paintjob in slightly muted tones is something I really enjoy seeing

Thanks both!

I've managed to squeeze in one last figure before I go away on holiday - this time an Eldar Adventurer based on an illustration from the Rogue Trader rulebook:

He's cobbled together from a selection of other Eldar figures. I think overall he's a nice homage rather than direct copy :)

After a 3 week break, I've struggled to get back into painting something. Happily, I managed to paint up a Spacelords starship pilot to join my RT non-comms.

You know, I've said this elsewhere, I think, but she still looks really really good. And it's nice to see other folks depicting some ethnic diversity in the big bad galaxy we share. She came out really well. I'd let her fly my shuttle anytime. Wait . . . I suppose Kitty Luong might have something to say about that.

Another week passes by, and the administrators are in!

This chap is effectively an unreleased Rogue Trader model which Foundry cast up as part of a set for BOYL. The set is now available on the Foundry website should you be interested and you missed it.

While I really like the concept of the figure, I wasn't too keen on the pose, so I made some adaptations to the arm and leg:

The full details are in my blogpost.

I think that improves that figure tenfold. I actually didn't much care for the miniature when I first saw it, principally because of the pose. You've done a fantastic job with him. :)

Hey, that's a nice work indeed! The reinterpretation looks great, you made the mini look different, well done.

Thanks guys. It's a shame that the pose on the original is so in your face - a subtler pose makes for a better figure in my view - it means it can be used in a wider variety of contexts without looking jarring.

Indeed. It's not a bad miniature, really, but the pose is too much. The new one is much nicer. It makes me think it might be worth getting one and converting similarly.

My latest model has come out of a group project on one of the Facebook groups I'm a member of. Essentially the challenge was to adapt the Elven Mordheim Hired Sword, Aenur, to a sci-fi setting.

My resulting conversion is Tech Priest Ay-Nor, converted with the addition of ghoul legs and various Mechanicus parts. I hope you like him!

I've wondered myself about doing something with that mini in order to 'sci-fi' it, but woah, I could have never imagined such a solution!! Brilliant!!

Latest off the painting table is this fella - a cracking Spacelords starship crewman (available from Moonraker). I've tried to paint him up as a grizzled 'been there, seen it' type!

In practical terms, he's been painted to go along with the pilot from the same set, by using the same colours (albeit in different quantities!).

I like that one! Looks like Hannibal Smith: I like it when a plan comes together, he is gonna say any moment
