More Nomads for you - the remaining two members of my 9-man starting gang in my current Necromunda campaign. This time it's Haytham, a plasma gunner converted from a Gaunt's Ghost Imperial Guardsman (new trousers, sleeves, respirator and hat), and an unconverted Rogue Trader era adventurer who seemed to fit in with the rest of the Nomads:
As ever, more words and pictures over at the blog.
Last month I converted up a figure for a 'movie character' challenge over at the Ammobunker forums; basically pick a movie character and 40k-ify it! I chose Prince Nuada, the villain from Hellboy 2 to make into a Rogue Trader Space Elf / Eldar Corsair Prince. Hope you like the painting results from last night
Phew - last night was a tricky one - a Speed Painting Challenge. Essentially paint a model in an hour. Through selection of a simple model, high pigment paint and painting colours I've used frequently, I just about managed it (minus the static grass).
Here's the result:
In retrospect, I wouldn't have chosen the yellow legs / feet as it make him look a bit duck-like. But at least it's another painted model!
You can see the full process and hour countdown on my blog.
Continuing the approach of 'paint whatever I like the look of', I decided to get down to painting another Astropath last night. This time it's not one of the Citadel figures, but a female I converted from a Dark Sword Miniatures mage with a head from a Mordheim Sister of Sigmar.
I'm calling her Syl Moor, based on a certain resemblence to a minor Star Wars character. I've envisaged her as a more inately talented Astropath than your run of the mill forwarding service - hence the rather more decorative clothing and adornments than a basic / functional robe.
I've managed a couple more painted figures during the slight intermission to this thread. First up is another new recruit to my Ash Waste Nomads, this time one of the original Marauder releases:
The second (and more exciting) figure is one that I've coveted for years, but only managed to obtain earlier this year. This particular figure is a c1991 release for Confrontation; the Elite Gang leader. I'm calling him Eduardo Murat
In due course, Eduardo will have his own gang to hang around with, but I'm also toying with the idea of including him (and his gangers) as the militant element of an Ecclesiarchy retinue.
Last night's painting session resulted in a new minor Necromundan noble for my Elite Leader to guard, sparked by a painting competition launched earlier in the week over at the Yaktribe forums. The competition brief is to build a group with at least two members of a Noble House, Brats, Servants or a Lord for Necromunda. The figure is Romana from Citadel's Doctor Who range, but she'll do nicely as a high born noble's daughter I think! A 3rd figure to the group, representing her tutor, will come in due course.
