Nah, that's fast by my standards! :). Seriously your painting is so stunning it's well worth the wait. The beastie is looking amazing, superlative skin textures. Now that killa snail is brilliant - I love him, the finished piece is going to have such a lovely balance of whimsy to it with bits like that. Very much looking forward to seeing it come together (no matter how long that may take!)

The long time spent on the beast allowed me to come up with a funny idea for the base, which unfortunately will require additional painted elements and quite a bit of terrain work (a favourite of mine), but *should* be worth the effort.
On the other hand, working on the snail made me realise that my usual painting pace is not chicken beast-slow and this feels quite reassuring :)
 
Saddle pad 2.0
I don't have 1.0 at hand for a pic (it's basically a rough leather remnant out of GS) , but once home I'll try them both and make a choice

The above saddlepad turned out to be too big for the model (it looked ok in the sculpting phase, though) and somehow i managed to misplace the first one i made over a year ago, hence the need for a 3rd one:

Joking aside, it will not be OVERLY complex, quite unsurprisingly it'll comprise rocks, moss and mushrooms, maybe a couple of small firs just because i want to try my hand at them, and will tell a brief story with another character involved, which i've already half painted (literally, but i won't show you yet not to spoil the effect :razz: )
