Re: the goblin shaman
As with all minis of old, he is a named character (Ratnose Snotgurgle), probably with a limited release span as an optional crew member for the goblin wolf chariots from the Machineries of Destruction range (see here http://www.solegends.com/citads1987b/198707xmd6/md6gobchariotflyf-01.jpg), as he's quite rare nowadays.
With this one I'll try to add a bit of realism to my usual skin recipe, adding some reddening where due.
After the above pic was taken I realised that the casting finish on both hands was a bit rough (a bit too much, given how tiny the mini actually is), influencing the paint finish, as well: after a bath in the strip jar and some sanding it's now slightly better and I started on him again.
While we're at it, I'd be glad if some of you could enlighten me on what those thingies hanging from his belt and wrapped around the top of his staff could be :?: :?: :?:
Early days, of course, but I don't have a clue about how to paint them! Those things at belt level could be fringes, but someone on IG suggested they could well be dwarf ears  The ball shaped thing held on by the ribbon I really can't tell :? As it's got a little recess, it could resemble an eye bulb, but I'm not sold on this, as I don't...*see* how that could work :?:

The familiars are looking particularly lovely. The squirrel is especially nice.

As to what's on the staff, could that be a crude puppet tied to the staff? I'm also inclined to think he might be smoking a pipe and that might be a small skull charm hanging below the puppet, though it's a bit hard to tell from this angle. As to the stuff on his waist . . . paint them in some kind of human or orkoid flesh tone and let the imagination wander? I look forward to the results!

Thank you so much for your appreciation and inputs!

I'm inclined to believe the ribbon thing is meant to resemble a puppet, indeed: I could simply add a tiny bit of greenstuff and make the ball thing in the middle look like it was a roll of ribbon instead of something separate.
The skull hanging below the puppet is a bird skull and the gobbo is smoking a pipe, indeed! Nice idea about the "fringes": they could be slices of dwarfish "bacon" and that rectangular swatch on the chest could be a butcher's apron used by the gobbo for his "experiments"

It's taking shape
Quite slowly, as usual with me
The bulk of it is done, I'm in the process of adding more "beech" leaves (quite a nightmare, actually, as they're so tiny. I also discovered that the cones I take them from evolve with time, giving the "leaves" different shapes: at the moment, waiting for a new "harvest", I'm left with incorrectly shaped "leaves", which I have to trim down one by one :? )
Still to do are:
2 or 3 types of fungi/mushrooms
photo-etched fern
small moss patches
a little bird
fix the orc and fill the gaps with moss

If nothing else, it should be finished in time for this year Golden Gobbo?

I still think that you're painting custom three ups and that you have giant hands to cover up the hoax hehe

Now that's mean...

...but fair

All should be done before the end of the month: I'm currently painting some ferns and mushrooms and evaluating the addition of some tree roots to break up the emptiness of some soil; still need to add some trunk fungi (easily done with some strange kind of lichen I collected during my last outing in the woods), the tiniest of birds* and the orc.

*I recently got the fish and bird sets by Oliver Spaeth ( https://www.etsy.com/it/listing/108...ure&ref=sr_gallery-1-2&organic_search_click=1 and I wholeheartedly vouch for their quality: they're quite expensive, but absolutely excellent and well worth the price. Even if they're listed as 32mm, they're the tiniest things ever and would work well with 28mm minis.

The italian-english dictionary translates its name ("cinciallegra") in "great tit"...if this is accurate, I love this bird even more

Still some mushrooms, ferns, lichens and roots to go: all painted/collected/prepped and lined up, ready to be added to the base...I should complete it tonight

I've certainly heard "Great Tit" as the name for a British bird and the source of infinite puns. (I believe there are others in the family. Less Tit, maybe?) It reminds me a little bit of a local bird called a gold finch. Anyway . . . lovely! I look forward to seeing where you put this lovely tit. Show it off!

. . . Did I mention the puns?

As promised, I can now slap in your face my (Great) Tit job (I reserve the right to take better and more scenic pics as soon as possible...I finished it a bit late in the night):

I'll probably add some more tiny roots and fungi here and there in the meantime (my desk was a real mess tonight: I've hoarded, painted and glued all kind of natural/commercial/self built flora in the last 2 months and I just wasn't able to find them  )

although what are those animals thinking getting so close to an orc? they're heading for the pot if they don't look out.

 If St. Francis was an orc...

I probably got carried away with flora and fauna with this one, but let's say they're taking the mick out of him for snapping his bow-string...

Is there anything more oldhammer than an orc with tits?

. . . erm . . . uh . . . where was I going with this?

Absolutely stunning work! :)

First let us say that we find your painting style fantastic. We had seen some photos of your orcs on the web in the past, and now we have found the phases of your work documented in this topic. We particularly like the brilliance of your color and the maximum attention to detail in the miniatures and landscape. Thanks also for the suggestions of where to find birds and small animals that have satisfying detail and that really look like what they say they are....
Coming to your latest work, we were struck by the photos of the final result, and for a moment we had an impression of disorientation: the cute little animals of the forest that perch on the branches or peep from the grass suddenly recalled us to mind (rather che St. Francis) a scene from the cartoon of Snow White, where she sings in the woods surrounded by animals...
We don't know if this is intended, but the humorous effect in full Oldhammer style is assured, since instead of the tender girl with heart-shaped lips there is an one-eyed and grinning orc who draws a dagger!
Great job, keep it up!
