GG 2026 A Giant Task

[The Serene Badger]

He's a frost giant now...
Hopefully this will help his feet and the barrel detach from the base...

[Brother Meredith]

So long as it is glued with superglue?

[The Serene Badger]

It would appear to be. It came off pretty easy. Some bits of base still attached to the feet. I can see "Marauder" under one of the feer.
I have a choice to make now - Dettol or acetone. I might try Dettol as I can get it quicker, and I'm hoping it'll be gentler on the adhesive

[The Serene Badger]

So, who had blu-tac in the "what was the barrel stuck down with?" sweepstakes?

That explains why it was still a bit flexible!

[Brother Meredith]

Dettol should be easier to cover him in! Have you got a big enough jar?

[The Serene Badger]

I hope so. At least with Dettol I've got a plastic bucket I could use if needed.

[Brother Meredith]

An open bucket of Dettol will make you popular with the household… 😉

My wife is very tolerant of me and my 'smells', diesel, carb cleaner, aniseed balls etc, but even she draws the line at Dettol, tbf it does bloody stink.

I wouldn't bet on that.

Considered using a brush-on stripper rather than immersion? Biostrip, for instance.

[The Serene Badger]

I love the smell of Dettol, but I know not many agree.

He fits in one orientation, have to be very precise putting him in.

And he's now the most sterile giant this side of the World's Edge Mountains!

Wish me luck! The barrel has gone in some fairly manky acetone I had leftover from stripping a hammerer for Brother Meredith

[Citizen Sade]

Kilner jar? Posh. Good luck (getting the Dettol stench out of the rubber seal).

[ManicMan]

Gotta be stronger then an USA ale ^_^ might want to be careful how much you drink though

Supermarket knock off. Think I picked it up for £2.50, so I'm not overly worried. It would also explain why I can smell Dettol really strongly even though it's sealed 🤣

[Geroak II]

So, who had blu-tac in the "what was the barrel stuck down with?"

Ah yes, blu-tack + superglue aka poor man's green stuff! Now that brings back memories of my earlier hobbying days.

I do mine in a fake kilner too. One that used to have a candle in I think. The rubber seal degraded after a couple of months' exposure to dettol.

[Brother Meredith]

Yeah, the plastic around the jam jars lids I use has degraded over time too!!

[Citizen Sade]

I switched to fake Tupperware years ago and reserve my Kilner jars for pickling & steeping.
