Less of the negativity @ManicMan, the Necron background has been fleshed out somewhat in the years since and is a neat way of incorporating sci-fi skeletons aesthetics into the 40k setting IMHO, certainly no worse than sci-fi elves, knights and orcs! 😉

Necron was a rubbish attempt at the Chaos Androids anyway

I expect Chaos Androids will come back at some stage. Much of what GW does today is mining the past for ideas.

Rogue trader era has space undead. Zombies, Vampires, androids (skeletons) etc.. not totally original but much better than the dull generic Egyptian stuff which was base in fashion at the time they made Necrons and Tomb King stuff ^_^

Demonic possessed robots would easily fit into the Dark Mechanicum in heresy period or whatever faction Vashtorr‘s forces are developed…
