Where do people play?

Does OGRE ring any bells for either of you? Reason I mention it is that I was living in North Hertfordshire when I joined this forum and Erny advised me to keep an eye out for OGRE meet up posts.
Yep, that was it! OGRE! Those were some fun times. I'm far away now but hope it gets reprised one day

Hey! Guess what, Lenihan? I just now saw that post about the Chester gaming event years ago. I missed that - by quite a bit! :?

Ooops!

What a shame - we actually had great games there on two consecutive years! Don't know if it's going anymore?

York here - we do have a few gaming groups, including one I quite rate for the people, but I just don't like uprooting all my stuff to travel and play in a club.. plus the variant of WFB we play is pretty outrageously house ruled (core is 6th ed, but there's a lot of tweaks, so good luck squeezing that into a 3 hour pick up game..), so I'm also in the 'play at homes with a couple of folk I've played for years'.

I have vowed to learn a game 'as is' so I can at least attempt club play, and I fully intend for that to be Bolt Action / K47, but right now I'm really in a fantasy groove, so have yet to learn those rules in detail.

The Counting House is nice inside, but more of a restaurant for most of the day than a pub. The Irish pub on Ropergate is ok, but has no real ale. My favourite is the Robin Hood. But I am far from expert on Pontefract, and I know nothing about pubs in Cas.

My first excursion there. I'm on safer ground in York and can recommend several pubs (including the Viking / Metal tourist trap that is Valhalla.. which I might currently be in..)

Cheers!

I play nowhere... unfortunately it's all just game tourism for me: thinking about gaming, talking about gaming, but never actually rolling the dice in anger.

I do play the rare boardgame with the missus, and am planning a few solo minis games here on the dining room table when I get a shipment from Pendraken.

I always admire folks getting their kids into games, honestly. Kind of like my father getting me to play trains with him when I was young. Or build models. (Both of which I still do to greater or lesser extents, so his efforts were not in vain.)

It depends. My daughter has tried a number of card games, board games, rpgs, etc.
They are not her thing, it would be nice if she liked them too, but you can't push the issue.

If you have children that share hobbies that is great for sure.
Mine doesn't.

On the plus side though. My wife likes that sort of shizz.

My youngest is called rogal, I'll be gutted if he doesn't like the hobby haha
