Trying to move away from just painting at random and will now try to commit myself to a single project.
Tech gang, sadly I only have 4 so will have to find some suitable minis

Looking great - lovely minis! I really like the contrast between the pale clothing and bright electronics and cables :)

Really great, I wanted to paint my techs white with red as a spot colour and you've just proven it's a good idea. The plasma gun is subime amongst all, the colour and texture are just perfect. I had also never realised the 3rd tech is a variant of Kim jong Bono AKA bounty hunter 5 even if they actually are neighbours in the 1991 .catalogue...

Anyway, splendid team.

Nice painting. That plasma gun is bloody huge!
Yes, i'm actually not completely happy about that gun. Never was a fan of over-sized guns that plagued newer GW minis. It's actually an old Orc plasma gun. I didn't want to equip all my gangers with pistols and the only rt era plastic rifles i own are lasguns for my imperial guardsmen and a few orc weapons.

And now i ran out of Tech gangers to paint, I have a few minis that i will try to incorporate into the gang. Will see how it turns out over the next week i guess.

So good to see he gets some love, he wouldn't have bafore long with me !

I'm really puzzled about that WIP shot. It reminds me of Fraser Grey's technique. If you don't know it it's over on Orlygg's blog but basically he explained he painted each part one after the over without any base caot which sort of looks like what we can see in the first pic.

He looks really cool on the second, wondering who his firneds will be be, some of the moustached hunchbacks of the range I guess?

Ah well, my base coat spray can ran dry. So been base coating by brush lately, with a very thinned down white. So it actually does have a very thin layer of white, but seems i missed the edges of the hat.

And yes i have a few more of the old pirates to go along with him. Kinda regretting painting some of them in the gritted brown and dark colors. I guess pirates should be more flashy

A little bit of progress last night:

I wanted to give him a white/blue striped shirt. But I messed that up, got pissed and painted it all blue instead.

Good, I love those Space granpas, the green beard is something I'd like to be able to come up with but can't... it fits the onk perfectly and it gives the model a sor of "Ulysses 41" sort of vibe I'm sure everyone will appreciate ;)

Looks really good Dooz!

I'm curious how you painted your leathers. Why the yellow base coat? And what are the subsequent coats?

I've basecoated yellow with browns myself, but never the other way around. =) I would find it more logical to for instance paint the glove brown, mix in yellow and highlight, wash to shade and then finish highlights.

I love these old pirate models, I've got a load of them that I painted up for BOYL. I like what you are doing with them, bright colours and flashy clothing, just the way pirates should be. Gives them a 2000ad vibe.

Hmm, yes it really does look really yellow. But that's because of overexposure from my desk-lamp. It's one of the Vallejo browns (don't remember which one right now). It's then subsequently washed with GW ogryn flesh i think. Followed by very light highlights.

Now I'm starting to regret the way i painted the first of my pirates 4 months ago, they are all more dark and gritty. Might have to go back and make them more flashy as well

The Pirates picked up a sentient frog creature some where. No one really know what it's good for

That frog does not look good, will have to see what I can do to fix it. Not a very clean sculpt
